Meden Sports Centre including swimming pool was built by Sir John Eastwood and freely given to the people of Warsop. It became the
property of Mansfield District Council in 1974 during the reorganisation of local government. The Parish Council find it astonishing that Mansfield District Council are planning to close the pool, especially now that millions has been spent refurbishing ‘The Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre’. This means that residents in Mansfield / Mansfield Woodhouse now have two quality swimming pools within a approximately twenty minute walk of each other.

The closure will have a devastating effect on our school children, for our children to have swimming lessons in the future, the cost of transportation is estimated at £5,000 per school with our 6 schools using the Meden Baths for their swimming lessons this will cost in the region of £30,000 a sum that our schools can not afford and don’t forget the extra time needed for them to travel to the nearest pool, by the time they have got to the pool, got changed, it leaves them hardly any time at all to swim! Residents of the Parish who regularly use the pool are going to be hit hard as well, a family of 4 to travelling by bus to the nearest pool is going to cost them in the region of an extra £15.00.
