Online Petition

Meden Sports Centre including swimming pool was built by Sir John Eastwood and freely given to the people of Warsop. It became the property of Mansfield District Council in 1974 during the reorganisation of local government. We the undersigned find it astonishing that Mansfield District Council are planning to close the pool. Especially now that millions has been spent refurbishing ‘The Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre'. This means that residents in Mansfield / Mansfield Woodhouse now have two quality swimming pools within a twenty minute walk of each other. Once again we feel that this action highlights that Mansfield District Council have forgotten that the word district appears in their title. We petition you to reconsider closing the pool as it will have a major detrimental effect on our community both in terms of leisure and education.

The pool at Warsop is used by many and it would be a huge shame for it to be closed.

Pete Austin from Church Warsop
Nice one MDC looking after number one as usual bring back the urban district council!!!!

Lorraine Edgar(nee Scrivener from Snodland
I lived in Meden Vale and i remember the Kirchin brothers tragedy,my friend was their sister Judith. I went to Meden school and learned to swim in the pool,to prevent tragedies like that happening ever again it must not be closed down!!!

cherie cheshire from meden vale
It's time warsop and meden vale had more to it like woodhouse and ollerton it's time we expanded and we had mor efor the younger to do instead of being bored and stuck behind a computer console, we need to get them out and about and more motivated, we need to make travell easier and cheeper makeing use of more facilities and be able to get a job where they can have transport to get there and back .......

Tim Brown from Church Warsop
This pool must not be closed - it is one of the few leisure activities and without doubt one of the beast assets for both the town and the schools - i cannot comprehend how the council can keep funding these poles with flowers on that they have to send a lorry round every day to water and then close a real asset that was built for the real health of human beings - Get back to reality Counciller's, thats what i say. We should be expanding this pool not closing it.

Gordon Freeman from Warsop
Do not do it.

John Booth from Warsop
The baths were donated to the people of Warsop on the understanding that MDC maintained them, John Eastwood stuck to his part.

Laura Frances Walker from Church Warsop
I have only lived here a little over a year but I feel it would be very detrimental to the area to close the pool, I personally use the pool once a week and would find it difficult to find the time to go to another pool further away due to work and other commitments. The pool is one of the only things in Warsop that you can do in evening that does not involve drinking in one of the pubs. Please consider those of us who do not have the time to go somewhere else to swim, you will be loosing our custom at any of your pools if you close this pool.

beryl morgan from warsop
save our pool

the lee gang from warsop
still ready when u want us to sort them out

libby gilbert from market warsop
please stop them

dale robinson from warsop vale
it's close by i don't see the point going all the way to mansfield when we got a swimming pool were i live it takes me 8min to get there.

mrs hinson from sutton-in-ashfield notts
these ammenities must stay open, the closier of these swimming baths wuld have a major impact on the area, I use these as sutton baths only do a couple of night a week for adult swim and its to late in an evening. LiSTEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR GODS SAKE.

Rachel Nunn from Ex Warsop
I think it is a disgrace that they want to close the swimming pool. Mansfield and other surrounding areas have many facilities and still receive money to open more, Warsop does not have much for people to do (of all ages), we are still paying out but the government want to close one of the best things in the village instead of improving it or giving something to warsop?

Yvonne Abbs from Church Warsop
What a ridiculous idea to close Meden pool! The government are advising people to swim more and get fitter, and yet MDC are proposing to take away a major facility from our area. I wonder what Rebecca Adlington would have to say about it!!

Stuart Hodgson from Sheffield (ex warsop)
Save the pool

Andrew Stephenson from Isle of Man
I'm planning to move into the area in the near future, and am disappointed that such a facility is to be withdrawn. Perhaps this was not such a good move. If MDC is unable to raise funds to support a facility that they were given, I wonder what my hugely increased council tax bill will actually be funding?

nigel warren from mansfield woodhouse
I Learnt to swim at this pool,as did my 4 children, now my grand children would also like to learn to swim there, without this pool it would be a bus journey to the nearest swimming baths, please keep the warsop baths open.

daniel bettridge from warsop
save our pool we need for our kids health i hate the lee family

steve elliott from warsop
the pool must be saved

ruth burns from warsop
people go on about children being unfit then why take away this facilty//

vik filep from ex warsopian
keep t' pool oppen, it's t' only place Wahsup folk ave a bath. Only joking, I remember it being built, I'm not that old and still standing and so should the baths. Keep up the good work foks.

Susan Jordan from ex Warsop
The pool's recreational, educational and health values to the communities it serves are undeniable. The decision to close it is short-sighted and defeatist. Come on MDC, get your heads together to work out a solution that protects and develops this facility... surely that's your role!

Tracey Middleton from Church Warsop
MDC need to realise that people in Warsop are fed up of paying out and not getting anything back! The pool was given by Sir John Eastwood for the people of Warsop and MDC should be ashamed at wanting to close it - close one of Mansfield's pools if you want to save money as they have more than one and seem to enjoy spending loads of money on revamping them

stuart hull from Warsop
keep the local pool... keep the pool

Sean Harris from Warsop
This facility should be kept and renovated. The council have not spent any money on it for years.

michelle ward from warsop
its a disgrace!!!!!

chris orwin from Old Church Warsop
The Pool was a gift to the parish and as such should be preserved, why does Mansfield deserve two pools within a two mile radius of the town centre, and why do they have regular revamps, when Warsop seems to be the poor cousin. What about equality, how can MDC justify spending £5million+ on a revamp of the former sherwood baths, which on closer inspection is a tart-up of the former pool.

albert moore from warsop
who do the lee family think they are they are just nasty bullies please save our pool

Mrs D Orwin from Old Church Warsop
If Mansfield District Council are considering closing Meden swimming pool, what are the local schools, who are but a short walk from the pool to do, when they need to learn to swim. All my grandchildren have learned to swim at the pool and their children should have the same chance, without having to travel miles to learn a necessary skill.

Charles P Orwin from Old Church Warsop
I think it is disgusting that Mansfield District Council are planning to close Meden Swimming Pool, If cuts are necessary to keep the pool open and in a condition that is fit for use. Then I suggest these be made by cutting the salaries of those Council officers, who every time a decision like this is necessary, seem to forget that Mansfield DISTRICT covers a wider area than Mansfield Town. Travelling times and distances should be considered for the people who need to use these facilities.

the lee family gang from warsop

Janet Spooner from Warsop
The people of Warsop and surrounding area need and deserve to KEEP OUR SWIMMING AND FITNESS CENTRE, My children and now grand children learnt to swim there, its invaluable

Lynn Mellors from Church Warsop
the pool is needed in warsop for the schools for their lessions in the area as well as for everyone who live in the area

gary mason from warsop
fittness and enjoyment is part of a healthey life. DON;T

Alison Craddock from Leics
I learnt to swim there, everyone did! MDC what are you thinking, you need more facilities not less! KEEP THE POOL OPEN!

jane alexander from warsop
No fitness/exercise/swimming facility should ever be closed. We need to keep our health and fitness and doing that in a place most suitable for us is the best way for this to happen. Maitain them to a good standard, build more pools if there is money but NEVER knock a working pool.

carol elliott from warsop
the uses of the facility are mainly youngsters of warsop. closere may ad to the street corner problem that is rife

ronald elliott from warsop
my two grandchildren are learning to swim there, which is were ; there farther learend

holly from from medan vale
KEEP OUR POOL OPEN;[ ;[ ;[

angela jackson from warsop
all my children had swiming lessons and learned to swim here plus countless swimming parties and bouncing castle parties all reasonably priced my grandson is now having swimming lessons would be a great loss if these facilities were no longer available.

pauline price from langwith junction
leave well alone

Emma ranby from warsop
MDC will do wot they like wot ever we say they should keep the pool open my son has just started to do swimming lessons there and is doing very well it would be a shame if he had to stop going as it is good for him he also goes with his school and i also learnt to swim there so keep it open.

Carol Ursell from Portsmouth
I learnt to swim at Meden Swimming Pool and I still swim there when I visit my parents. It would be a shame to close it - it serves a lot of villages in the area.

Peter Brailsford from Old Church Warsop
Many of us learned to swim using this facility - future generations should be allowed to do the same especially in these days when we are actively encouraging our young people to take more exercise - for all we know there could be another Rebecca Addlington in our midst.

Julie Brailsford from Old Church Warsop
MDC should be adding to our facilities, not removing them! The pool was gifted to the people of the parish and it would be a very sad day should it close - please reconsider.

Angela Dobb from Meden Vale
Removing a vital recreational facility of this community is ludicrous - John Eastwood will be turning in his grave

Maria Fowler from Warsop
All our local schools use Meden baths. Where will the children go to instead? Longer out of school or less time swimming? Plus the transport costs. Leave the pool alone, Warsop needs it.

John Reeves` from Market Rasen
Dont Do It ! ! !

James Anthony Robert Gibson from Mansfield
I myself lived in warsop and used the sports centre when i was i child. When i was at Birklands & Meden it was used for PE. Then in the school holidays we has the fun splash with all the inflatables. Also can anyone remember the roller discos!! Well i find it ashtonishing that MDC can find the money to update the RA swimming centre and the claim the need to close Meden Sports Centre. Glory supporters the lot of them, perhaps the national press needs to know about this!!

charmain hemley from shirebrook
great pool dont close it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i learned t swim ther n wuld love 4 my kids t learn there 2!!!

Liam Hicken from Mansfield Woodhouse
good pool, dont close

Caroline Angus from Church Warsop
Although i can travel to Sherwood or Mansfield, it is convienant and less costly for me to go to warsop, this facility has been available to local residents for many years and it is discusting that this facility may close in favour of a plant, the government is pushing health and fitness and i consider as a responsible council it would be their duty to allow the baths to remain open.

julie forte from meden vale
it is disgusting that we have to lose this pool. not every one can get to woodhouse.

Beverley Lilley from Market Warsop
Turn up to the public meeting at The Meden School on Friday 12th Feb AT 6PM To show your support.

RAYMOND HAROLD BELLINGHAM from MARKET WARSOP
Dont forget us Silver swimmers too.its bad enough the disgusting way MDC treat the kids in this parish, like wise their tenants, they have destroyed the market in mansfield,so don't forget us old'uns some of us don't have a lot going for us in this world, leave the pool alone!!

ruth logan from warsop
please keep it open we need it

trevor matchett from sutton-in-ashfield
i work in warsop and fully support the local people and their fight against the closure of meden swimming pool think about our children and not accountants the council should look to the future and refurbished it closure is always the easy option my i suggest they work a bit harder and find a way to keep it open and make it better for the good people of warsop to enjoy for years to come!

Fred Slaney from Church Warsop
Keep our swimming pool open

maureen slaney from church warsop
keep the swimming pool open warsop needs it

John Bodicoat from Warsop
I was born in the village with no swimming facilities at all, we had to be bussed to the old sherwood baths on the rare occasion that the school could afford. We missed out totally on the pool as kids. Do not take away such a valuable asset to the local community after all these years.

David wilson from Church Warsop
It is needed for the children of this district

janet jennings from church warsop
keep the pool open there are lots of people that use the pool in warsop all my children have learnt to swim in that pool it would be disgusting if mdc closed it.

Kevin Shaw from Warsop
One of the reasons for yob culture is that there are not enough organised facilities for our young people. Closing the swimming baths takes away a very important one. People of Warsop of all ages are able to make use of this important facility. I remember when Warsop schools also provided many and varied night classes for people. This was stopped by the district council years ago. A caring society led by a caring district authority should provide facilities and encourage a culture of recreation and participation if we are to bring up the next generation to be decent citizens. Our District Council should take the lead in these matters and not close down what little available facilities we have left. I remmeber Warsop having the benefit of a paddling pool on the cars which our children enjoyed when they were young. No doubt this disappeared into dereliction because the council could not be bothered to fund its supervision.

Jonathan Ashworth from Woodhouse Road, Mansfield
Though not a resident of Warsop I fully support the campaign to keep Meden Sports Centre Open. I live just a stones throw from the new Adlington baths, but our new facilities should not be at the expense of facilities for people in Warsop. It seems astonishing that when we in the Mansfield are so proud of the acheivements of swimmers like Rebecca Adlington and Charlotte Henshaw that the District Council is giving serious consideration to closing the pool in Warsop. What message does that send to our young people who have been inspired to take up swimming? I hope the Mayor will think again.

Elaine Janet Shaw from Warsop
This is a disgrace, 15000 people live in the Warsop district, do Mansfield council not care about us?

janet morten from meden vale
these baths are a valuable asset for all local people of all ages from the youngest to the eldest and those with disabilities. It is very important to keep them open and to cherish the facilities for future generations..as a local taxpayer I think this and other similar resources should be well funded and supported by our local councils and if closed under a ruse of lack of funds then our councillors should feel ashamed- this will be a dreadful waste of a social unit that is good for the health and well being of the local community

Ian Anthony Langley from Warsop
It is truly astonishing to hear that Meden swimming pool may close, I, like many others who benefit from using the pool do so not just for the swimming but use it as a therapy to help recovery from injury and other physical ailments.

John Duncanson from Warsop
The question is, did sherwood baths make a profit/loss? Or are they shutting warsop to justify all the spend on the recent re-fit for Rebecca.

Rachael Parry from Church Warsop
They should keep the baths open for us all to use.

Paul Bostock from Church Warsop
My children have lessons there. They should keep it open.

Dean Wysocki from Warsop
i cant believe that they want to shut Warsop swimming baths. I lernt to swim there. They should keep it open for the people of Warsop to use.

stephen shaw from Langwith
I cant believe they are considering closing the swimming pool at Warsop. I think that it is discusting.

Simon Wright from Brighton
It is essential to combat youth disorder and childrens health problems, I know, i grew up at that School next door.

Sonja Harris from Old Church Warsop
I thought we had a problem with obsity in this country? Taking away a facility that enables people to take regular exercise is ridiculous. Plus it gives the kids something to do, as there little else to do in the area. There is also a small matter of the Olympics just around the corner...what would have Rebecca Adlington done if they had shut her trianing facilities!

sarah page from warsop
it is an essential facility needed for our children, why should we travel to another village

Dale Robert Duncanson from Warsop
How can you shut thisdown, we cant afford to travel to Mansfield, or Woodhouse. I learned to swim, so did my kids.

phillip poulter from warsop
i have 4 children who use or will use the pool at school

SHELAGH NEEDHAM from CHURCH WARSOP
with so much emphasis on the need for our children to stay active how can the closure of the local swimming baths, utilised by families and the schools in Warsop, be justified?

June Froggatt from Church Warsop
we need our swimming baths keep them open

Cara Wysocki from Church Warsop
I think it is utterly disgusting!!! Myself and my family have used Meden Baths for years, my children have started to use the pool both publicly and for lessons. Why spend 15 million pounds on a new pool in Mansfield Woodhouse when it is not more than 3 miles away from a COUNCIL run Water Medows which is more than upto date. Also where will all of our school children learn to swim? All that was needed was a facelift for both Warsop and Sherwood baths not 15 million pounds. The threat that this poses that teenagers may take to going in the River Meden in the summer. I am utterly disgusted in this council and local government that will allow this to happen you have all lost my vote as i have no confidence in anything that you do.

Sarah Palmer from Forest Town
I heard about this from my Mum that works at Meden School and i think that it's a disgrace that the council are planning to shut this swimming due to budget cuts!! The swimming pool is part of the community in Warsop, many children have learnt to swim in the pool and where will they go now? The council are only wanting to shut the pool so that people have to go to either the 'Rebecca Adlington' swimming baths or Water Meadow, both of which are a lot more money. In my opinion I think that if the want to cut budgets they should stop spending so much money on speed camera and invest money in a worthwile cause such a the Meden swimming pool. If it shuts, it will cause even MORE kids to hit the streets with their anti-social behaviour and drinking problems!!! Especially seeing as the swimming pool is widely used by the younger generation.

Arthur Parkin from Market Warsop
Once again,Warsop is second class citizens.Mansfield Council has some nerve to spend £5,000,000 on Sherwood Baths. They have not spent a penny on Warsop.

lucy pallester from foresttown
keep meden open!

Gerry Hynes from Cresswell
Keep the pool open. How can MDC justify spending the money on plants and flowers which do nothing to promote health and cannnot teach people to swim therefore keeping them safe in the water. Go without the flowers for a year and spend the money on something worthwhile.

Mary Hynes from Cresswell
Keep the Meden pool open. It is a place where people meet socially whilst beiing able to keep healthy. We in Cresswell enjoy our local pool so understand what a loss it will be to the people of Warsop and the adjoining villages.

Suzanne Davies ( nee Moakes) from From Cardiff (Ex Warsop)
I learnt to swim at meden baths in the 70's - this is disgraceful. The council should at least honour the fact that it was freely given to the people of Warsop and maintain it to the standards expected.

Joseph Brown from Mansfield Woodhouse
I learnt to swim at meden baths in the late 60's early 70's and now take my 2 year old daughter there even though I no longer live in Warsop. Mansfield councillers should remember that these baths were donated to the people of Warsop by the late John Eastwood, I wonder what he would think of this if he was still alive!

S Steed from Warsop
The pool is an invaluable facility in Warsop and is used by many generations, it must be kept open!

joe hodgkinson from worksop

Betty Gradiski from Warsop
Please keep our pool open snd then look to refurbishing it especially the changing rooms.

David Hooley from Church Warsop
Remember Margaret Thatcher the milk snatcher now we we have our very own Tony Egginton the pool snatcher.

Mitchell Lee from Edwinstowe
Keep the pool open. It helps lots of people to learn to swim without costing a lot of money.

Irene Sharpe from Warsop

Pat Smith from Warsop
shame shame shame on you the council that will promote unhealthy people, bored kids, vandalism, a deperessed Warsop but come in the summer and watch us all looking at our hanging baskets and plants in delight and feeling the benefit from them.

Renee Mellors from Warsop

Eric Mellors from Warsop

Robert Coulson from Langwith Junction
A new cover has been provided for the pool at Meden at a cost figures into the teens of thousands. What good is t his going tobe, why spend that amout on something that is a waste of money!!! How many tins of paint , boxes of tiles, toilets and sinks plus fittings could be from B&Q to modernise and decorate the pool

Joyce Godson from Mansfield woodhouse
Please keep the pool open for the good of the people . surely Mansfield and the villages can manage without flowers and plants for one year. What health benefit is there to people from looking at these.

Ann Bishop from Warsop NG20 0AG
As a fairly new business person in Warsop I look at the community and surounding area with optimisium. It appears very positve in lots of ways compared to other small communities in our county. I feel things like the swimming baths give people the opportuntnity to socialise along with the chance to exercise..whatever age we are. And surely anything that builds friendship and community spirit should be encouraged. I, for one, plan to and will use the baths..(as long as it is around!!) MDC please consider the Warsop spirit as you make your decision PLEASE

Catherine Barlow from Old Church Warsop
I use the pool regularly, and on some nights it's so busy there is hardly room - definately a utilised and valuable resource for Warsop

marie marriott from mansfield
we need to keep this pool open

shirley ann ellis from Warsop
the baths where donated to the people of warsop for the benifit of people of all ages young and old ,to the councilers of Mansfield please reconsider .

Elizabeth Mary Holden from Warsop
There will soon be nothing left in warsop, because in your wisdom you are closing everything.I belong to Jigsaw and thats in fear of closing through lack of funds.

Frances McLaughlin from Old Church Warsop, NG20 0EX
I have lived in Warsop for 26 years and our 4 sons learnt to swim in the Meden Pool. As a family we have enjoyed using this facility and I feel that the community would be much the poorer if the pool were to close. At a time when the Government is keen to promote health and fitness, it would seem a contradiction of their policy to remove a facility which contributes significantly to this. This is especially the case in an area when the levels of health and fitness are below the National average and many families would not be able to afford the bus fare, approx £15 for a family of 4, to the nearest pool. Also closure would mean that school swimming lessons would cost each school around £5000 pa for transportation which for the 6 schools in Warsop means a total of £30,000. In addition to this, the travelling time and changing time would mean that there would be hardly any time left to actuallly swim!! In I conclusion, strenuously oppose the planned closure of the Meden Pool.

Paul Moakes from Diseworth, ex-Warsop
Shortsighted and against every other current initiative of reduced travel, improved fitness, free swimming for kids. For the sake of £50k/yr. Idiots.

Sophie Booth from Warsop
Keep our swimming pool open!

Heather Booth from Warsop
Keep our swimming pool open!

Julie Jackson from Warsop
Warsop Baths would be used more if the facilities were maintain to the same standard as Mansfield

Paul Colley from Market Warsop
Its local, well used and an excellent facility for the school and Warsop residents

Nigel Etches from Warsop
Scandalous

Patricia Etches from Warsop
I live in Warsop and use the swimming pool on a weekly basis. It is very convenient for me because I can walk to the facility rather than using the bus service or using a car to get to the Water Meadows or the Rebecca Adlington pool. I feel it would be a sad day after all these years for the residants of Warsop, local schools and the surrounding areas should the Meden Sports Centre and pool close. It would also mean that residants would be adding to the carbon footprint by using transport to go outside the area to other centres.

nicholas watkins from warsop
ALL CHILDREN SHOULD BE LEARNT TO SWIM . iWAS NOT GIVEN THIS OPPERTUNITY AS A CHILD AND HAVE MISSED OUT

Jack Louis from mansfield
a real shame if this happened, the council should have the whole counties best interests at heart, not just one area. mansfield is a massive town, warsop a small town/village. taking away a facility from such a place can do no good in the long term, regardless of what short term cut back the council needs to do to cover up its overspending

Rita Doan from Spion Kop
Keep the kids off the streets! We should be looking at improving sport and leisure facilities - not closing them. Keep the pool open!!!!

Mike Jones from Mansfield
Our Mayor gives away shoes and his face to the papers, Warsop baths and the towns toilets are paying his wages.

Paul Mason from Mansfield Woodhouse
Disagree with the pool closure because this will increase resources onto Sherwood Baths that needs to be fully resourced and opened to the public

malcolm price from langwith junction
i am a regular participant of the over 50's session should the Warsop facility close i feel it will mean the end of my weekly exercise which i most look forward to

Nigel Richardson from Mansfield
My children used the pool when Sherwood baths was closed for redevelopment and it would be a real shame if a facility for that side of the district was lost, especially since the leisure centre in Mansfield was never replaced. At a time when there is so much emphasis on obesity levels rising we need to keep the pool open. Is there any way Becky Adlington can get involved?

Ian Johnson from Mansfield
Keep the pool open! Community swimming is a vital resource.

Brandon Shane Green from Edwinstowe
SAVE THE POOL! :D

Paul Lowe from Shirebrook
At the end of the day, i have to travel to get to any swimming baths as there aren't any in Shirebrook so i can sympthaise with people from warsop (and i do use meden baths) but you do have more leisure facilities on offer compared to where i live.

Lynn Wilson from Church Warsop
Disgraceful. The baths have been allowed to fall into disrepair so that 'they' could say it wasn't being used enough to warrent keeping it open. WRONG. We would use the baths if they weren't in the shabby condition that they are in now. Refurbish and watch ot take off!!!

Andrea Gammond from Warsop
The pool should be kept open. It is part of the community and what will happen when the pool closes more kids hanging around the streets. Invest money and you may get more people using the pool and facilities.

Sally-ann Andrews from Warsop
We need this pool, some parents will be unable to take their children to either sherwood or watermeadows. This pool has been open for the last 30+ years it is part of our community. I use it every week!!

David Reeves from Ollerton
The pool should be kept open.

Jan Reeves from Ollerton
Keep the pool open it is necessary for the good of the community

Abigail Harris from Warsop
I go swimming there regularly with school, you can't close it!

Jennifer Harris from Warsop
Don't close the pool!

Peter Harris from Warsop
Save the pool, it is too valuable to the local community.

Catherine Pears from Warsop
Keep it open. All children need to learn to swim.

Greg Stevens from Warsop
Save the pool

Sarah Drury-Watson from Warsop
It will be a great shame for the children of Warsop if the closure was to go ahead. Don’t get me wrong I’m 100% behind this petition but the last time I visited the swimming pool the facilities in the changing rooms were disgusting, the showers were cold and the lockers were broken. I used to attend the monster splash myself every Friday night and so did my younger brother several years later at these sessions people were turned away due to the pool being full!!!! This kept children off the streets whilst they are participating in physical activity are these two concerns not some of the most publicised in the media?? Meden sports centre’s pool needs some money investing into it to bring it up to standard so families WANT to visit. SAVE OUR POOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

keith daughton from market warsop
we need to keep the pool open fop the youth of warsop and surrounding area

Sophie Green from Meden Vale
this pool was opened for a good reason why on earth should it be closed

Catherine Burton from Church Warsop
Many happy times spent at warsop baths, of course they should stay open!!!!

Samantha Jane Lewis from Warsop
I think its stupid that the swimming pool may be closing, it was built for a purpose so it should STAY!!!!!!

Jacob Richmond from Creswell
This is ludricrous! How will we be able to go to swim without having to travel for hours!

Lee Moody from Warsop
What will local schools do? How will they learn to swim? This is absolutly ridiculous!

Brian Beardsley from Church Warsop

KEEP IT OPEN!

tony field from market warsop
i can remember the day that the last john eastwood gave our town the local john eastwood swimming pool and surrounding meden sports center a long with the near by meden secondary modern school to his local coummunity. it was with the understanding that it would educate and proved sporting fealty's for the people of the town of warsop and it's surrounding districts. it was with the understanding that the upkeep and maintenance of the school and sports center was to by taken out by the local authority. for this genres gift a long with others to his local community the late john eastwood received the honer of a knighthood from her majesty the queen.

Laura harris from warsop
save meden baths

Derek Russell from Church Warsop
This must be saved

Mrs Godson from Mansfield woodhouse
a lot of my friends over 70 go to Warsop to swim or do the Aqua exercises. Some have tried to use the new Becky Adlington pool but can't get in as most of these sessions are full. Older people who could use the bus to mansfield woodhouse, will still have to walk to the pool(if they can get in).Would MDC councillors do this in the pouring rain. The health of senior citizens is important. Shame on the council.!!!!!

M Smith from Mansfield
Many people use the pool for gentle exercise, advised to do this by their doctors after heart attacks etc. for cardiac exercise. If Meden pool closes, these people may not be able to travel anywhere else to exercise. More cost then to the NHS when doctors have to prescribe drugs to improve cardiac health.

R Smith from Mansfield
Keep the pool open. There will not be enough places for swimming lessons for all children at the Mansfield pools. Poor Warsop, hit again!!!!!

Malvin Holland from Melrose South Australia
This is a good local facility for the area which should be maintained for the community of Warsop especially for the youth, I enjoyed swimming my two children when lived there a great place for community recreation and leisure.

tracy johnson from warsop
petion

Sarah Munnings from Old Church Warsop
I feel disgusted that the council are even considering closing the Sir John Eastwood baths after it was so kindly gifted to the people of Warsop by a generous local businessman. We, the people of Warsop pay council tax as well as the people of Mansfield and this should be reflected in the services that are provided to us in our immediate local area. Disgusted MDC!

Wheeldon from Warsop
As a pupil of meden school, it would be better if you kept the swimming pool open for all residents to use (all ready doing so) because noone will spend over £3 just to go to mansfield and other places when they can just come to warsop for an average £1-£2 on the bus .... so keep it open! please!!

mr h brown from warsop
i used to take my children swimming there, its such a shame that mdc wants it closed. PLEASE KEEP WARSOP BATHS OPEN

Michael Smith from Warsop
Closing Warsop swimming baths will be a sad loss to all local children who will be denied the privligde of learning to swim with local Schools not being able to afford transport to other venues for lessons. With free swimming for children being introduced "its strange how the council have now decided to close the pool"(Shame Rebecca Adlington din't come to Warsop to train!)

peter wilson from mansfield woodhouse
The old people of the area, would really miss it!

SUSAN NAYLOR from MEDEN VALE
What would be the benefit of closing the Meden Baths we do not have a lot of amenities for the children of the surrounding villages as it is .

Beth Fletcher from Warsop
Its unfair

Christopher Fletcher from Warsop
The young people need it especially in this village where there are a distinct lack of amenities for them.

Joanne Fletcher from Warsop
Please keep our pool open. My daughter uses it all the time. Its disgusting that the Council have decided to spend millions on a new library at Mansfield - what for? Spend the money on upgrading our much needed pool instead.

Kylie blundell from Gleadthorpe
save the pool

Darryl Trueman from Meden Vale
please keep our swimming pool open because it is not fair on the little children that wan't to learn to swim and that have lessons there and that can't get into mansfield so please. keep our swimming pool open

Daniel Morley from Warsop
I want to keep this place open. ive just started swimming down there.

Eleanor Rose Hughes from perlethorpe
I live in perlethorpe but went to school at meden. I would like this swimming pool to remain open as i swim there a few times a month. As i am mostly in warsop.

Jake Lee Evans from Warsop
Ive lived in warsop since birth, i currently swim in the pool mondays and wednesdays and i would hate for it to close.

Mrs Claire Taylor from Warsop
The pool is part of our little village, keep it running please.

bethan kelly from warsop
i think it is importan to have a sport center for p.e and for clubs the swimming pool is inpartant to have swimming is one of the best work out you can get and its FUN!!! so please keep the sport center.

may walker from warsop
what about cutting our carbon footprint? how is forcing people to travel miles to spend money in another town going to help anyone but mansfield!!!!!! there is so much crime/drugs/drunks there i will not be allowing my children to travel there alone!

Miss E Brown from Market Warsop
how dare the council blame the current econimical climate after the amount they have just spent on one building! we do not want a fancy pool, just the one we have has been enough for thousands of people for years, it should stay that way.

Glyn Croshaw from Church Warsop
The pool in Warsop needs to remain open.

Rebecca Croshaw from Church Warsop
Keep our pool open.

Joe Croshaw from Church Warsop
I have just been advised to use the pool for my health, how can I do that if it is closed?

Diane Croshaw from Church Warsop
My children and I use the pool all the time, we won't be able to if we have to find bus fares to Mansfield

Kath Croshaw from Church Warsop
Leave our pool alone

Kerry Crookes from Mansfield Woodhouse
Keep the pool open!!

Catherine Fryett from Warsop
I am a single working parent with 3 children, so I have alot of activites to cover, having the pool within walking distance for my older children is a goodsend, plus less expense on petrol. To remove this will be of great detriment to the community as a whole.

David Dewhirst from Market warsop
as a member of ptfa i think its disgusting the pool is closing we raise money to allow are children to have swimming lessons, following a recent spell in taking children from Birklands primary school for swimming lessons and to see there faces light up when they reach a goal some children can not even swim and some parents maybe cant take them due to money ect this is a community place where people can relax and get to know others iam also considering getting a petition going from local schools and parents

denim hickling from meden vale
i think that the swimming pool should stay open because it is hard for some people to get into mansfield

Eloise Guthridge from Warsop
I think that meden sports centre swimming pool should stay open because alot of people use it to loose weight and to do something fun in there spare time.

Lorna Ann Haywood from warsop
MDC tut tut tut

Sarah l Howarth from Warsop
Would be a great shame to close the only facility of this type in the area

Stephen Lunn from Warsop
It would be a great shame to close the baths. It is a great facility, gifted by Sir John Eastwood so our youngsters could learn to swim following the tragic death of two children by drowning.

Graham Goff from Warsop
much needed facility for residents and schools

Lynne Goff from Warsop
Excellent facility which the community needs

Alan Wood from Meden Vale
The baths are a much needed facility in Warsop and should not be closed. They are needed not only for the schools to use but for use by the general public to keep them fitter and healthier. For Warsop to lose the Baths would be a crying shame - but what do MDC care about Warsop!!!!!!!!

Brandon Lee from Kings Clipstone
This Facility is important to the people and the schools of Warsop

Claire Hynes from Kings Clipstone
i used the pool when i was young. it would be such a shame to see it go.

Dale Hynes from Warsop
there is no common sense in getting rid of it. Spend some money on Warsop for a change!

Maureen Wood from Meden Vale
Once again Warsop suffers at the expense of MDC. Keep the baths open - they were given to the people of Warsop by Sir John Eastwood and should not be closed as they are a much needed facility for future generations to use - young and old alike. Shame on MDC. Oh, does keeping the MDC Nursery open take precedent over peoples health!!!!

Tracey Hynes from Warsop
the pool and the sports centre are used alot by the people of warsop so why get rid of it? The schools use the pool too. There isn't alot for people to do in warsop so the swimming baths is very important to our community.

Joanna Matthews from Warsop
As a teacher at Meden School I have used the pool every week for years. At the moment, with a toddler, it is the only exercise I am able to do and is, therefore, even more important to me. It is used by all generations and local people have a right to this facility at a time when the government is constantly stressing the need for a healthier lifestyle. It is not enough to argue that there are other swimming pools locally - they are too far for most. Please do not close this invaluable facility.

Kerry Crew from Church Warsop
Both my children use the pool facilities for swimming lessons as this is our local baths. If the facility closed this would mean travelling to mansfield which would prove very difficult most of the time due to work commitments.

Miss L. Willoughby from Doncaster
As a teacher at Meden School, I can recognise the huge benefits of having the Meden Sports Centre here on our doorstep. It helps the pupils to participate in different physical activities and develop skills through sports and it is also widely used by the community too.

david j mellors from church warsop
no comment

Dale Brown from Messingham Scunthorpe
I grew up in Warsop in the 60s and 70s, spent many happy hours in that pool, with some family memories that will be there forever , why should future generations be denied the facilities which were affordable in the 20th century, the pool was built, maintained and afforded in hard times..miners strikes, 80s recession etc yet in 2010 MDC plan to close it. I have moved away now but am ashamed that MDC is planning to close Meden pool denying all future generations - including my nephews and nieces..the chance to walk safely to a swimming pool in their growing village. Disgraceful.

june hawkins from meden vale
need the swining pool at warsop people dont want 2 go 2 mansfield and pay 4 pounds bus fare

dylan constable from meden vale
were will local kids learn to swim? where will our school swim now?

Stuart Yates from Shirebrook
This is a good local facility for the area which should be maintained for the community

Chas Roberts from Ladybrook
If MDC can't afford water rates, the Mayor and Leader of the Independents could do a sponsored swim, instead of being pictured in Chad smiling on a golf course. I'll put up some sponsorship money - we'll see if they're still smiling after some exertion....

Suzy Woodward from Market Warsop
The pool needs total upgrading, the council have left it in the hope they can close it. We need our pool - upgrade it like you have just done to the Sherwood ( Adlington ) Pool .

alan thompson from warsop
it needs keepin open what else are this council going to take away from the people of warsop,MDC think again

Martin Peter Jackson from Meden Vale
It does make you wonder what sort of a place we live in, where the good of the people is put behind adorning a few places with worthless decorations. The next nearest pool is too far away to walk to and the bus fare to near it is unjustifiably expensive for many people. Have all those that make these sorts of decisions ever explored life, land, and finances outside of their own little bubble? It's so dishearteningly wrong. Don't close the pool.

Gail Spalding-Frost from Formally a Warsop resident now live South Notts.
Has a former resident of Warsop, and a pupil or the Meden School. I urge MDC to think again and save the Warsop Sports Centre & Swimming baths. These facilities were built and donated by Sir John Eastwood for the people of Warsop and surrounding areas. Youngsters find it hard now to keep occupied, dont make it any worse, and pensions keep themselves mobile by using the facitilties. Dont force people have to travel to nearby towns to use other faciltites, when they have perfectly good ones on their doorstep. Please do not demolish what you can impove on. Why should everyone who contribute to the C/tax, do it to improve Mansfield's facilites and not its own particular area. Some people may think its a dump, but its a nice dump that should have been improved on along time ago! Come on you guys in your Ivory towers get off your behinds and do right for the people for a change....

Chris Peacock from Warsop
The sports centre is a dump! Let them demolish it and hopefully put something better there instead. I know you all learnt to swim there but i'd rather teach my kids to swim in a pool that didn't mean they were in danger of catching typhoid! Stop clinging to your crappy past and shut up moaning!

Denise Smith from Warsop
This pool was given by Sir John Eastwood for the people of Warsop and the surrounding area and is a wonderful asset for the health and happiness of so many local people. Please do not close the pool where all 3 of my children learnt to swim with their local scools and also had swimming lessons.

alicia jane from warsop
if it wasnt for that swimming baths id never have learnt to sswimm and why are you closing down my uncle has his daily shower there

Tom Dawson from Meden Vale
Keep the meden baths open, why should we loose one of the few facilities we have, money can always be found when needed, so make this one top priority too

Ann Harrison from shirebrook
me and husband use the over 50s session and this pool needs to be kept open

Paul Reeves from Shirebrook
this pool needs to be kept open

Billy Harrison from Shirebrook
Keep the pool OPEN!

Charlie McPhail from Sheffield
I use the pool at weekends when i come to visit my boyfriend and his family. The facility is amazing DO NOT CLOSE !!!!!!

Glen Kennedy from Sheffield
I am now at university at sheffield but still use the pool at wekends when i come home. It is a great facility and has no need to be shut down

JUNE POWERS from WARSOP
keep the pool, the kids need somewhere local to go we shouldn,t have to keep traveling out of warsop for activities.

Gareth Bowell from Warsop
Closing the pool will be terrible!!!!!!!!!!!

Vicky Kennedy from Warsop
I use the pool at least twice a week for both classes and swimming. If it closes i will be forced to cancel my membership as i do not have time to travel to the other pools in the area because of my working hours. I have lost 2 stone in the past year and with no pool this would not not have been possible!!!!!!

george kennedy from warsop
Keep the pool open

Emma Lousie Hayes from Spion Kop
.

Emily shields from Warsop
This pool is great for us kids and if you close it then you have more kids on the street causing trouble! save the pool and keeps the kids off the streets! I go to it on fridays and its great fun so please keep it open!

Becca Fretwell from Warsop
Ive always swam with school here and go with my friends on a friday to monster splash (: Please done close it!

Winston Shields from Meden Vale
It is imperative that Warsop Baths are kept open. My children and grandchildren learned to swim at this excellent facility.

Lucy Bytheway from Langwith
when i was at school i used the sports centre along with loads of other students for doing p.e n if they lose the sports centre it will affect alot of peoples lifes

Shirley Ann Fretwell from Langwith Junction Mansfield Notts.
I was was born and bred in Warsop, and was only 7 when the baths were opened , we were swimming every night and most days when we were at school.Sir John Eastwood went to alot of trouble to bring this pool to our village, and i think it should be kept and maintained in his memory. It was the best thing that happened to us when we were kids , That is where i taught my daughter to swim too, it has gone on through generations of Families and bought so much happiness to loads of people, and will carry on to do so if left alone.

Nigel Baxter from Blidworth.
Keep them open. I learnt to swim there when I was a kid.

Karen Hardy from Warsop
keep the John Eastwood Swimming pool open

Alison Furnell from Mkt Warsop
Im so angry that MDC have made the decision to "try" close Sir John Eastwoods swimming pool, It has served Warsop for many years and myself and many of my friends and family have learnt to swim there, Can you imagine Warsop without its pool? because I cant .... and wont!!!!!

sheila shields from meden vale
I am a MDC councillor for the Meden Ward and am disgusted with the proposal to close the pool at W arsop. The children in the outlying villages will be at a terrible disatvantage if this decision is accepted. Surely the children of the future should be allowed the same opportunities offered to others in the district and MDC should be obligated to provide this facility to ensure every child has the chance to learn to swim as a right. How can a price be put on this I am ashamed if this goes ahead as reccomended

Mark Fowler from Warsop
Almost everyone of my age learnt to swim at this centre and is still used by schools today, what value do Mansfield DC put on a childs life?

Peter Alexander Shields from Meden Vale
More than 40 years ago now, two good school friends of mine and my brother's, the Kirchin brothers, tragically lost their lives whilst fishing at The Carrs. The Meden Baths, graciously donated by Sir John Eastwood, were to help ensure that this tragedy would never happen again by giving the local children every incentive to learn how to swim.It would be a terrible insult to the memory of the two boys and their lovely family if the baths were to close.

Stewart & Gwyneth Bromley from market warsop
It would be a shame if it shuts, because the people need it. Also its within walking distance for the schools in Warsop. Could you imagine the costs for the schools to get the kids to other baths.

brian jacksaon from was in welbeck now in australia
i grew up in an around warsop, spent every day of the summer hols at the pool when i was at school, had a lot of good nites at the sport center too..shame on u MDC.....

Les Smith from Market Warsop
What are the young children of the Warsop area going to do to learn to swim and enjoy swimming at a pool which is within reasonable access. Why shold there not be a swimming pool within reasonable reach for all people who enjoy swimming? Why should everything be concentrated in Mansfield at the expence of the people of the Warsop area? Why should the people of the Warsop area be penalised for the vast amount of council tax payers money, including the Warsop Parish, that is spent on Leisure facilities in Mansfield? It is time the coucil members realised that the Warsop area is part of Mansfiedl District Council and deserve a fair share of the cake. Why should the people of the Warsop area be denied facilities to fund the extravagancies in Mansfield?

natasha davies from edwinstowe
its good 4 the school which i went to and now my nephew and good 4 the locals keep it

Dr & Mrs Singh from Warsop
We use this pool a lot and will be lost without it. It is not only a brilliant place for elderly to exercise but to socialise as well. They will end up going to doctors for depression and all sorts if it is closed. So we urge you to keep it.

JANE SPENCE from WARSOP
Not only does the pool serve Warsop but all surrounding villages eg. Meden Vale, Church Warsop, Cuckney etc. Simple!!! It needs to stay open!!!

Mrs Kerry Randall from Church Warsop
The Only reason MDC are considering this Move is to try and force people into using the Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre, this in there eyes would justify them spending the stupid amount of money they have spent refurbing that pool. It makes me laugh that they are prepared to spend £5 million to jump on the back of someone elses achievements but how do they expect our children to have the same success if they keep taking away their facilities. Please don't close the John Eastwood Pool. We still need it!!!!!!!!

Laura Priestley from Warsop
How ridiculous my 3 year old has his swimming lessons there i'm a single mum who can't drive but want the best for my son and in his best interests its important for him to be able to swim mainly for his own safety i find it disgusting that this is the case when a stupid amount has been spent on a perfectly good pool, warsop is lacking enough facilities for the children anyway to take away this would be a even bigger blow, what does this leave for the children.

Jonathan Wilson from Mansfield
Meden baths should stay open,Sir john Eastwood paid for the baths to be built out of his own pocket for the people of Warsop, and the surrounding area's to enjoy.Sir John would turn in his grave if he knew what they were planning shame on you.

Mrs Maria Tucker from Warsop
There are already little services in Warsop, and by taking the pool away, will reduce these services even more to th community. I learned how to swim there as a child and taught my children how to swim there. It is important that local children and families are able to access these facilities. Maria x.

lucy davidson from meden vale
keep it open i dont live there anymore but everyone that does doesn't want to travel miles to get to a pool when theres one just down the road

Matt from Langwith
SAVE OUR POOL!!!!!!!!!!!

andrew hawkins from meden vale
you cant shut the pool or the centre i just cant understand why as its always booked out when we try and book for 5 a side footy

Sebastian J W Williams from East Markham
I am learning to swim here just as my mummy did thanks to a very generous gentleman called Sir John Eastwood. Please keep this pool open.

Julie P Williams from East Markham
The pool and facilities are vital to this area. I travel to use it and still favour it over others in the area. It is very unfair that millions has been spent to revamp another pool in mansfield and the overspend is resulting in this closure. I thought that government were always trying to improve the health of the nation by providing more areas to exercise not closing down the facilities required to do that.

DENISE AMBLER from WARSOP
WARSOP HAS VERY FEW FACILITIES AS IT IS, WITHOUT GETTING RID OF WHAT WE DO HAVE, SURELY IT IS MORE HEALTHY FOR LOCAL SCHOOL CHILDREN TO WALK TO THE POOL THAN CATCH A BUS TO WOODHOUSE.

ryan goff from warsop
LEAVE IT OPEN!!

Markus Smith from WARSOP
where will i learn to swim now leave our pool open why not shut water meadows.... (oh i forgot it's in mansfield cant do that)

Elliott smith from WARSOP
where will my daddy take me swimming when you shut my pool

ian woolridge from warsop
SOP ( save our pool )

kaite smith from warsop
Save this ameinety for the school and the local people - The community is large and has only a few failities. Look after what we have and market the provision better. It amaising how a sauna and a jacuisi can attract a following and income. It is a proven model. Thorsbey Hall, South Forest several in workspo and mansfield. It is to conveinient to close this resourse.

sharron wright from warsop
keep meden baths open for the kids. wont somebody think of the children.

martin wright from warsop
again the people who put you in power will not be heared.take your blinkers off, come down to warsop and listen

brian from WARSOP
Whats up has the council overspent on the revamp of sherwood baths, run out of money and now need to recoup money from another centre's budget to fund it, why not ask miss adlington to sign this petition i bet she declines.Or better ask mr edlington to sign i can guarantee you he wont sign

HANNAH EVANS from WARSOP
Don't close the swimming pool. How can you spend £5million on renovating Mansfield Swimming Baths and then close Warsop baths because of budget constraints? People in Warsop pay taxes too!

Zoe Sheppard from Warsop
.

Helen Lapham from Bristol (used to live in Church Warsop)
It cant be closed...so many kids have learnt 2 swim there!

FED UP from WARSOP
MANSFIELD DISTRICT COUNCIL I THINK NOT MORE LIKE MANSFIELD COUNCIL SOD THE DISTRICT

Pamela Stray from Warsop Vale
Keep the pool open

Brent Stray from Warsop Vale
The council want to spend the money keeping the centre's pool open instead of wasting money revamping sherwood baths when there was no need

LISA SMITH from WARSOP
Typical of the council sod warsop mansfield's fine

kevin smith from church warsop
please keep it open every thing has gone in warsop eastwoods lol.

colin stray from warsop vale

JONATHAN SMITH from WARSOP
I learnt to swim at this pool and it was thanks to Sir John E astwood that it was possible, not mansfield district council,it was his generosity that made the pool possible as the council did not build the pool initially, it was added later at no cost to the council that is why it carries sir john's name as you accend the stairs. The pool should be kept open, NOT CLOSED to justify the stupid amount of wasted money that was spent revamping the old Sherwood Baths (Another Centre that the council did'nt build). This closure is just to save money so that the council can spend the money on mansfield's facilities which is typical of them as they only care about our council tax not the residents of warsop.

connor brown from warsop
were would our school take us to learn us all how to swim. please keep it open

charnelle brown from warsop
i love swimming on a friday night with all my friends

kay brown from warsop
please keep the pool open

Micheal Bernard from Warsop
I learnt to swim in this pool along with soo many other people in the area if meden was to close fewer kids would get the chance to learn to swim because it will cost the schools too much to travel to mansfield or other pools it needs to stay just for the kids if nothing else

Becca F from Warsop
Save the pool. Adults seem to moan about kids being un-healthy and doing stuff they shouldn't. If you close the pool its like giving them only one option to do after school and at weekends. I would come at weekends. But its only open at funny times on a saturday!

Miss L Petitjean from Belph

Miss S Petitjean from Warsop
Keep the pool open

ben derko from warsop
Please save our pool! each friday we visit monster splash me and my friends and enjoy it! if they perhaps opened the pool more times at the weekend more people would visit, or if they had an open day perhaps money would come in? I would certainly visit if it was open at a reasonable time on saturday.

Miss B Brown from Warsop

Miss T Brown from Warsop

Mrs Dawn Brown from Warsop
Keep the pool open. Why is it that the surronding areas such as Worksop, Mansfield Woodhouse and Retford get brand new leisure centres with olympic size pools yet they want to close our down. Guess we don't have any olympic swimming champions in our area and if you close the pool we never will

David Brown from Warsop
We need our pool

Mr L Westwood from Warsop
Keep it open!

Miss Alexandra Jane Ashton from Warsop
Save the pool!!

Rob Davison from Warsop/Meden Vale
I lived in Warsop and grew up in Meden Vale. The Meden John Eastwood pool is very important and is used by the schools in Meden Vale as well as most schools in the area. It should not be demolished.

Jayne Skinner from Market Warsop
This pool is an important part of this village and has helped many children and adults enjoy swimming whether it be for leisure or fitness. Everyone should have the right to swim, why take away this amenity, instead of all the money that has gone into one pool being updated, that money should of been shared out and helped all the pools and all the villages that has this amenity.

laura seston from warsop
keep it open please

mandy pickering from mablethorpe
i know longer live in warsop but feel strongly about the closure of the the pool it helped myself and thousands of others has a child to learn to swim

katherine louise kerrison from warsop
keep the pool open!

kelly hynes from church warsop
why dont the council do something for warsop instead of mansfield!!!!

sharon shieber from Warsop
If our pool is closed our children will lose out, it will cost a lot more money that our school hasn't got, as we fund the swimming lessons, to transport our children to another pool. Walking to the pool gives the children extra excercise too. There are at least 4 schools in the area that use and benefit from the pool. The local adult population also use it. See sense and save our pool please.

Lilita Johnson from meden vale
they have know right to take our pool

Mrs Jacqueline Cox from Warsop Notts
As usual mansfield gets what it wants, and warsop is ignored. many schools in this area use this pool how are we to teach our children to swim, to travel is even more exspence on these schools, as a user of this pool i must protest as this pool was given to warsop as a gift from sir John Eastwood. We are all encoraged to exercise for our health and the one thing able to do is taken from us.

Tom Novell from Warsop
Save the poooool!

rachel brown from church warsop
keep the pool open and spend some of OUR council tax doing it up

Jill Robinson from Warsop
Please save our swimming pool!

Mr Hugh Ashton from Warsop
Mansfield has two swimming pools and are to far to travel for Warsop people. Cl;ose down one of them!!

Mr Derick William Mytom from Nether Langwith
This is the only facility of its kind apart from those at Mansfield, many local people rely on this local availability, particularly those with no independent means of transport

Sarah J Little from Worksop
an essential part of the school keeping young people safe if they learn to swim

Amanda Ling from Warsop
and the kids go where once its closed?

ron bennet from warsop
the budget is supposed to be for the entire district, not just one part of it. this is a clever way of forcing people into mansfield. take away any choices, increase use of public transport! i doubt any of the council members have used a bus. it would take a good hour to get from warsop to mansfield and walk to the watermedows.

Margaret Smith from Market Warsop
Where else is there in Warsop for the young generation, this swimming facility is used by all ages for many activities. Why does the Warsop Parish always have to suffer at the expence of Mansfield?

Philip Udall from Warsop
keep it open

Leanne Crookes from Market Warsop
I learned to swim in this pool, as did the majority of my family and friends. The diversity of recreational activity available in Warsop at the moment is disgraceful, and if the pool is closed, it will only get worse.

Eileen Bettridge from Warsop
What a terrible thing to do to the residents of Warsop, especially the children!

Ted Chamula from Meden Vale
Very angry about this decision.

Joan Chamula from Meden vale
Mansfield District council should hang their heads in shame over this

Michael Smith from Warsop
When will the council in Mansfield realise that it is no longer the Municipal Bourough of Mansfield Coucil, It has beeen Mansfield District Council since 1974. Since this time its responsibilities and have stretched beyond the boundries of Mansfield the budget that it has is supposed to be for the entire district, not just one part of it.

Anna maria Downs. from Warsop
Don't close the pool, do some work on it maybe... but don't close it! :]

Jack Whitherby from Meden Vale
SAVE THE POOL!

Becky Davis from Warsop
Keep the pool open!

Jack Sadler from Meden Vale
Where else is there to go?

Stephen Garner from Pleasley
It is so sad that the gift of a pool by a benefactor could now be closed and it would be is a loss to the Warsop and district residents. If funding could be found by some means it would be tremendous to see it remain open.

karen kimmett from warsop
why do they have to take the only good thing we have away from us!! then they wonder why there is so much drugs and vandalism cos our kids have nothin to do!!! grow some balls and save our pool!!!!!

Sarah Heslop from Meden Vale
There are no other pools close enough that would serve the schools sufficiently

S Smith from Mansfield
This is a useful facility and should be kept open for the community. Will children now learn to swim in the river?

B Lee from Tuxford
Please keep the swimming pool open for the people of Warsop to use.

M Lee from Edwinstowe

E Lee from Edwinstowe
Keep the pool open please.

Rebecca Colclough from Warsop
My 3 young children started swimming lessons 2 months ago at meden sports centre, I am a single mum and paying a lot of money for the lessons, if the pool shuts then my children will no longer beable to have lessons because I am not able to travel miles for them to have lessons. They enjoy these lessons so much and i am so proud to see them learning. PLEASE DO NOT CLOSE OUR POOL. You are letting our children down and our community if you close the centre!!

Sally Kerrison from Warsop
The Meden swimming pool is a very important facility. Keep it open.

Hayley-Anne Kerrison from Warsop
Keep our pool open! It is extremely valuable to the local schools and community.

Chris Kerrison from Warsop
When it cost around £5,000,000 to revamp the Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre, The £50,000 a year to keep this pool open for use by 1000's of local people and The Meden School is a bargin.

Paul Richard Kerrison from Warsop
This swimming pool belongs to the community, and should continue to be used by the people of Warsop, Meden School and everyone who values this woderful pool.

Jonathan Pettinger from Old Church Warsop
Why should I have to travel by car to Mansfield to swim, or use other facilities that are just a walk away now? Talk about cutting down on our carbon footprint. An utter Discrace!

trevor plant from warsop
if the swimming pool shuts kids cant learn how to swim and if they get into some bother in warter they could drown mdc have that on your conscience.

Tina Roberts from Kings clipstone
dont shut the pool !

Mrs Katie Dexter from Langwith
The pool is the only one anywhere around here. It is the home to swimming lessons from all school sin the area adn we have even travelled there for our school in mansfield with our children. I have been going to the poll and centre from birth and it was a big part of my child hood. Please dont let it close

Stephen Roberts from Kings clipstone
dont shut the pool

ann plant from warsop
keep the swimming pool open children all need to learn to swim

luke Roberts from Kings clipstone
dont shut it , every village needs a sports centre preferably with a swimming pool

roy yates from warsop
if warsop was still independent from mansfield they would never close the pool it's a feeling that mdc does not care about the smaller district.

Liam Miller from Sheffield
As a warsop lad i spent many a good time at the leisure centre and swam in a few gala`s there! I may now live up in south yorks but the place is important for future generations and it would leave an empty space in so many peoples lives! I certainly have fond memories and even had my 16th birthday party there!

Ms Lisa Platts from Mansfield
Such madness......we need children to keep fit .....and learn to swim..... how can they even think of closing!!!

mrs michelle evans from warsop
me and my family use this pool quit offen and we don't want to see it go it will be a great loss to me and mine and the community.

Lucy Hannah Brown from warsop
i would hate to see the sports centre go as we use it all the time for p.e!

Pat Booth from warsop
John Eastwood built it for the people of Warsop etc. and it should be kept for the people of Warsop out of respect for John Eastwood

kevin lomas from warsop
sir john eastwood gave the swimming baths over 30 years ago to the warsop community, why spend £5,000,000 on sherwood baths when water meadows is only 2 miles away, warsop need the sports centre/swimming baths to be kept open!!!

Amanda Dupuy from was from Warsop
Kids need to swim !!! let the current young generation have as much fun in the pool was we did 25 years ago !

Simon Harper from Warsop
As a student of Meden school our vision spells out the word cares. At the minute the MDC does not seem to care whether our village loses a facility of high importance to the community and local schools. so its about time they did and KEPT OUR POOL!!

alfie lewis from warsop
meden pool shudent be shut cuz of the jobs i like swimmin there at monster splash dont shut it

Debra Edha from Warsop
Once again Mansfield is deciding our fate. I may be wrong but didn't Sir John Eastwood give the swimming pool to the people of Warsop not to Mansfield District Council??????

hayley williams from warsop
The meden baths were given to the warsop community by sir john eastwood, how can MDC just give up on it,they never appeared to be bothered about renovation work that was desperate to be carried out,why cant warsop have the funding that sherwood baths got"just because of rebecca addlington"!!the schools in warsop use the baths regular, where will they go?? hmmm sherwood baths,to pay back all the over spent money!!!

ellie thompson from meden vale
because my school has swimming lessons there and my mum and dad go too. I would really miss it if it wasn`t on. and i would'nt be able to go swimming as much

Paul Stevenson from Castle Donington
I have family in Warsop and have attended the pool many times. Where do you want the kids from Warsop to learn to swim ? River Meden ?

RABECCA ADDLINGTON from MANSFIELD
KEEP IT OPEN: SWIMMING SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED AND AVAILABLE TO ANYONE WHO WANTS IT! WITHOUT HAVING TO TRAVEL MILES!

henry thompson from meden vale
because my daughter loves going there. she has swimming lessons there

joy ransford from meden vale
please dont shut the swimming baths, my daughter loves going swimming there

Glynn Morris from Warsop.
So MDC have decided after spending over £5 million on the old Sherwood baths just so they can name it Rebbecca Adlington that they want to rob the people of Warsop of their swimming pool to try and recoup some of the money. Yes that sounds about right MDC. i,m sure that Sir John Eastwood who originally donated the baths for the good of Warsop people would be so proud of them had he still been alive. I think the so called Mansfield district Councellors should be reminded that there are people that still live outside of Mansfield and leave our pool alone.

Alexander Kerrison from Warsop
Children and adults will have to travel miles just for a swim, which in turn increases the overall cost due to transport. With the governments Healthy lifestyle campaigns and public money going to 2012 Olympics, the local council should be encouraging swimming activities, not closing pools!!! The council Will upset alot of people if they do....KEEP IT OPEN!!!

Paul King from Meden Vale
My girls are learning to swim at Meden sports centre and will be very upset if it closes and i'm sure it wont just be my children but all the children in their classes, also all the schools in the area use the centres facilaties.

Lewis Parkerson from Rainworth
I have a lot of relatives that live around Warsop and they all learned to swim in this facility. Now MDC want to take the opportunity away from others that want to follow on from this! Disgrace!

Rachelle King from Meden Vale
I learnt to swim at Meden sports centre and now my girls are learning to swim there too, their progress due to Joy the instucter means their ability in the water is fantastic, all the staff are freindly and very helpful it would be a shame not just for the children who swim there but the whole community for Meden sports centre to close.

Robert Whitefield from Mansfield (Formerly Warsop)
This is disgusting! I know MDC need the money but if they can't afford it (in other words need the money back), why pay it out? MDC should have thought about that but they never think. It's all for Mansfield never for anywhere else.

david helm from warsop
keep it open please

James Starch from Church Warsop
MDC wish to take away something brilliant from us! We need this pool.

Emily Shields from Warsop
Theres nothing around in warsop for children to do!! It's all for adults! So take away the pool and we have nothing to do and have to travel out ! Keep the pool!

Anna Carmen Morris from Church Warsop
It would be very unfair and counterproductive for Warsop people to lose an amenity like this.

Aiden George from Warsop
KEEP IT OPEN!!!!!!!

Donna Smith from Warsop

rebecca yates from warsop
PLEASE KEEP IT OPEN IT'S OUR POOL.

owen yates from warsop
the pool is great for children to learn to swim and if it closes my class can't go swimming in 5 weeks.

kerrie godson from church warsop
where else are the children from warsop, church warsop meden vale, warsop vale going to learn to swim? the get such a small amount of time allocated for swimming lessons in school that they couldnt travel to anywhere else they wouldnt have the time, this is too much of a needed commodity, for not only the children but the adults of the surrounding area, to lose...keep open warsop swimming baths

connor yates from warsop
the swimming pool is great for everyone keep it OPEN.

mrs s bailey from meden vale
there is not much around here for the children to do now its also a welcome place for adults! i have lived in meden vale all my life and it has always been a part of my life !!!think again about closing such a healthy fun enviroment, what is it the councils have been ranting on about for years HEALTH need i say more

mrs kath yates from market warsop
it is a very important part of our comunity because many children will not be able to learn to swim.

Vicky Morris from Church Warsop
Keep it open! :)

Shirley Hall from Warsop
Keep open the pool, we in Warsop need any facility that we can get. We are the forgotten minority of MDC.

Zoe Morris from Church Warsop
I learned to swim in that pool, and more generations, past and present, will learn or have learned there. Save meden swimming baths :)

mrs donna yates from market warsop
To let local school kids learn to swim and also some school's can't afford transport to take them else were.

Christine Kay Walker from Meden Vale
Please keep the swimming pool open. It is very handy for local residents to use therefore saving travelling time and money to get to other venues.

James willis from Church warsop
hardly any of the people who went to the meden sports centre swimming pool will travel to the rabecca adlington pool which is the only real reason it is going to be cut to boost the attendance and make it look good you people are only acheving in making the comunity unfitter

poppy bedford from warsop
please keep it open

kieran dobb from WARSOP
keep our pool open

john hickling from warsop
if it was nt for these swimming baths i would never have a bath !

steven bedford from warsop

marilyn root from warsop

matthew from warsopp init
keep it open cockers

Kev Barlow from Warsop
Keep it open!

Peter Jones from Meden Vale
372 people have signed this petition so far. Thats more than use the pool. Because so few do use it the rest of us are subsidising it through our council tax - that can't be right. I say close it.

Charlotte Louise Barlow from Warsop
Keep our pool, if meden closes all the schools will have to pay more money to hire buses to take them to rebbeca adlington swimming centre. Pupils at birklands primary have started theit own petition to save the pool aswell as a staff and techer one in the office

kirsty dennett from meden vale
why close a pool because the county council and district council have not kept up with the maintanence but managed to find 5 million pounds to update sherwood baths also bearing in mind mansfield has watermeadows which they closed and paid goodness knows how much because of some sort of airbourne virus. it appears that again if you are not in mansfield the councils do not appear to take us into account and we do pay our council tax, obviously this is to benefit the people of mansfield not the surrounding areas.

David Barlow from Warsop
Save our pool

Nicola Melanie Hough from Warsop
Keep the pool open, theres not much else for the kids round here

Elaine Eaton from Warsop
Keep the swimming baths open dont let the mdcs run roughshod over the community of warsop.Sir john Eastwood donated this to us and should be kept open in his memory.

Emily Shields from Warsop
They moan that children dont get enough exercise when they decide to take away one of the ways for us to exersise! The pool should not be closed as that is the only pool until mansfield! The pool is a great thing for warsop and taking it away will leave some angry people!

Molly Shields from Warsop
keep it open

Kelly from warsop
what a great way of forcing more people into mansfield! take away what they have got!

alan goddard from meden vale

Natalie-Louise Gale from Meden Vale
Keep the swimming baths open ! how can you think of closing the only local swimming pool we have. Its been cherished by the area for years. Don't close something so close to our hearts !!!

Joe Oswin from meden vale
keep it open, learnt to swim there it should stay open

Pamela Udall from Warsop
Our swimming baths is important to our community-where else are our children gonna learn to swim-not every family has a car

Malcom Ward from Warsop
it seems grossly irrisponcible to deprive swimming facilities from so many children and schools, especially with so many schools/nurseries/play groups/carnivals/sports clubs/parks surrounding a large lake with winding rivers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sean denentt from meden vale
how can they justify spending 5 million on sherwood baths but not keep ours open, meaning people in the warsop area will have to travel to swim

kyle dennett from meden vale
they have just spent 5 million on sherwood baths just because of rebecca addlinton. it stinks!

Geoff from Warsop
I find it amazing that every year MDC Keep putting our Council tax up, but yet keep taking things off us! How would the councellors feel should we kick them out of their offices, and rent them out for extra money! Maybe if they stopped screwing our money from their expenses cliam, they wouldn't need to to close Meden Baths.

Frankie Gammond from Warsop
Keep It Open!

Brian Calvert from Warsop
I find it absolutely amazing that MDC would even consider depriving the people of Warsop of the chance to swim locally. Perhaps we should remember this at election time...

GENERATIONS HAVE USED THE POOL AND THIS SHOULD CONTINUE!!! keep the pool open!

sarah green from mansfield
my sister and her 1 year old live in warsop and use the pool on a regular basis, she does not drive and would not have the time to tavel to mansfield/mansfield woodhouse. it is very hypocritical when the rest of the country is pushing health for the council to close it down. the olympics will be here soon, which is going to give all sports including swimming a rise in popularity! i myself went to the mosnter splash and donlphin slide and have nothing but fond memories together with swimming lessons and canoeing club at the pool. mansfield council are giving warsop no choices.

Connor McGURK from WARSOP
keep it open !!!!!!

Andrew Clare from Not Local
Please keep the pool open!

Mrs jemma emmott from lowdham
I am a member of staff at Meden School and Technnology College and I feel the closure of the pool would have a detrimental effect to the students of the school and the wider community

Joanna Simmonds from Warsop
This is a valuable local resource. Please reconsider this proposal.

Jayne Hall from Warsop
I feel that there is already a lot of deprivation in Warsop. It sometimes feels like it's a forgotten town. The swimming pool and sports centre provides leisure activities for many families in Warsop. If it is taken away I feel Warsop will become even more neglected. More should be done to inject money and facilities into Warsop to help give people a sense of pride and worth.

Nigel Bollans from Market Warsop
Having been born and bred in Warsop, and seen it develop over the years, I think it is absolutely outrageous that those that sit in MDCs ivory towers run roughshod over the residents of Warsop every time cuts are needed.

MRS VALERIE WADSLEY from WARSOP
Though i dont use the pool much myself ,my nieces and nephews do , we do not have much in warsop for our children, do not let the council take the one thing we do have .......SAVE OUR SWIMMING POOL

Cherry Tompsett from Edwinstowe
It is one of the few facilities available to Warsopians, please keep it open.

Mrs E. Straker from Warsop
Alot of Warsop families, and families from the surrounding area, use this facility. They can easily walk to this centre whereas if everything is situated in Mansfield, it will push the cost up and be less accessible to alot of rate-paying people.

Fiona Marshall from Warsop
The community needs this facility to be easily accessible for all ages

John Pearson from Warsop

Anyone wishing to use sports facilities in Warsop will have to travel to M Woodhouse or Mansfield incurring costs for travel, increasing carbon footprint and time needed. Young people in particular would not be able to use the pool in lesson time due to increased time and expense for travel thereby depriving one of the poorer ( in money and ambition) areas of Mansfield of an opportunity to keep fit and healthy.

Kellie Wright from Warsop
Keep Our Pool OPEN!

April Clarke from Forest Town
Keeeeepppp Ittt Opppeeeennn :P !!!

Irene Hall from Warsop
Warsop is a very close-nit community which revolves around Meden Comprehensive School and the Sports Centre. The people of Warsop consider these to be at it's very heart. The pupils at the school use the sports facilities daily as part of their curriculum needs and the community use the facilities every evening and at weekends. Many people from the village cannot afford the bus-fares to the Rebecca Edlington pool or Water Meadows so will definately lose out on leaning and practicing a very necessary skill.

Mike Trinder from Warsop
Once again Mansfield District Council has forgotten all about Warsop and what it contributes to the income of the Council, but when we want something it very soon forgets all about Warsop. Everything can happen in Mansfield but not in Warsop. We have some of the best councilors working for us and we must not let the swimming pool close. I think Sir John Eastwood will be turning in his grave if his donation to Warsop is closed.

Abbie Caudwell from Creswell

KIRSTI GORMAN from MANSFIELD
IT WOULD BE A REAL LOSS TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY IF THIS POOL WERE TO CLOSE AND MANY YOUNG PEOPLE WOULD LOSE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN TO SWIM

Tim Gibbon from Worker at Meden School
Growing up in Warsop, the opportunity to use a swimming pool within walking distance of home was such a privilege. When we are focusing more and more on a child's health and wellbeing, to loose the pool would be a step completely in the wrong direction.

gladwin from torksey
please keep it own because my grandchildren love to go there and swim

owen from warsop
i leant to swim there and it a nice place to swim so please do not shut it

Mr S Watson from Village
All children have the right to learn to swim, not all children can get to Mansfield.

Richard Bartlett from Warsop
The people of Warsop and surrounding areas need the swimming pool

aiden from warsop
because i like it and i go with my school and ifr you dont shut it i can carry on going swimming there

catherine from warsop
i want you too keep it open because all my children have learnt to swim there and many other so please keep it open please

Kimberley Willlmot from Shirebrook
As Shirebrook is without its own swimming pool, we often use the pool at Warsop- this will be a loss to us also.

Alison Maddison from Warsop
Please do not close the pool as there are already few facilities for the young people and residents of Warsop.

Clive Dennett-Thorpe from Felixstowe
My relatives in Warsop are enthusiastic users of this pool facility - why remove facilities which contribute the opportunity to learn not only a valuable lifeskill but one which is a positive contribution to healthy living.

Graham Peter O'Keeffe from Warsop
I have taught in Warsop for the last 26 years and am very aware how the village needs every last facility, given its enormous social problems.

Tina Sherwood from Meden
This community has little enough social provision, to take this facility away would be a travesty! :-(

Stacey Brunt from Chesterfield
I am a teacher at Meden School and am concerned about the possible closure due to the impact it may have on my students

jennifer wallace from meden

J Lee from Edwinstowe
I went to the Meden School and used the pool and facilities there and it would be a shame to see the pool closed.

Ian Gee from Meden
In an area of deprivation - this is one of the only places left for the younster to go instead of roaming the streets

MARCIA JANE CARR-FIELD from CHURCH WARSOP
If the swimming baths at Meden Sports Centre are to be no more then it would prove so detrimental to the people of Warsop and surrounding villages that use the pool on a regular basis, or even those that use the pool when able, due to work or family commitments. It is so convenient to have a pool 'on the doorstep', for everyone to use and it would be so unfair to take it off us. Surely there must be another solution than to close the pool. I understand that it is running at a loss but how can a value be put on a community facility, bearing in mind it is these sort of facilities, due to there closures, that are tearing communities apart, eg the closures of community centres, village halls, youth clubs etc.

Mark Inman from Warsop

Lots of people in Warsop and those who work in Warsop use this pool - how short sighted of the council to close it. It needs upgrading not closing!

Shellby Crookes from Warsop
People have been swimming in that pool from the ages of 3 and it been there for as long as i can remember it would be a grate loss to the comunity and it should be left as it is.

Keep it open!

kimbo's from warsop
As children, we often swan at Meden pool. We did our Lifeguard training there and spent many happy hours there during school holidays. Sir John Eatswood donated the swimming pool to Warsop and this should be remembered. It is very wrong of those in high places to pass judgement, in favour of a few flower beds. Come on, let's have some common sense here and keep the baths open. No more of the attitude "it doesn't affect me personally, so let's shut it down" We are not prepared to sit and take whatever is thrown at us without a good fight.

RACHEL PARKIN from NEW OLLERTON
I went to Meden Comprehensive and still use the facilities at the sports centre

Gareth Taylor from Creswell
This is an important resource for the local community in which I work.

Moira Heslop from Meden Vale
I feel that if the facilities offered at Meden Sports Centre were reduced in any way, especially by the removal of the swimming pool, it would spell the death knell for this part of Mansfield. We seem to be in the land of the forgotten.

kimbo's from warsop

It is pathetic that the council could even think about closing it when they have wasted money on sherwood baths.

Mrs A Watson from Warsop
It would a great loss to the children of our village and surrounding villages to lose the swimming facilities at the Meden Sports Centre

K Beresford from Church Warsop
Swimming Pool is an important part of Warsop community. Please keep it open!!!

Beverly Palmer from Forest Town
This pool is needed by everyone in and around Warsop

Kev Keegan from Warsop
At a time when we are sat on a health 'time bomb' why close a local swimming pool? We all know that the pool is in a tired state, but without this vital resource the health of this community will suffer. I hope that local people will find a solution to this local problem. Surely, within the contract at MDC is a clause that talks about what would happen if the pool were to ever close. Doesn't the ownership revert back to the Sir John Eastwood Foundation?

Lisa Bingham from Meden School
I know a lot of our students and their families really value having a pool in Warsop.

Ann Evans from Warsop
We need a place within walking distance. What is the pint of having to get out the car or go by bus to get exercise?

John Gorman from Holymoorside Chesterfield
Many people will not make the effort to travel to find alternative facilities. This is a very shortsighted move.

roger hayes from skegness
dont close the pool. its a valuable part of the community

Helen Heath from Warsop
This valued facility should be kept open for the local community and school to use and enjoy.

Debra Brighouse from Warsop
I teach at Meden school and know how the local community value this facility

Tracey Lawrence from Welbeck
If this closes it just means the villagers have to travel to Manfield/Mansfield Woodhouse etc and is another environmental problem of cars/travelling etc

pat kennedy from warsop
myself and my daughter use the pool at least twice a week. I am learning to swim over the last year at the ripe old age of 58! I am thoroughly enjoying my new found skill and would be devestated if the pool closed.

Mrs T Booth from Meden
Swimming Pool is vital to local community - what else is available for the youngsters of today's society?

Clare Louise Stockdale from WARSOP
PLEASE DO NOT CLOSE THE LEISURE CENTRE & SWIMMING POOL WE NEED IT

Vicky Lett from Langwith

the sports centre should stay open for future generations to enjoy as well as the present one!

Andrew hartshorn from warsop
the sports centre should stay open its an important part of warsop and surronding communities.

michelle hartshorn from warsop
The sport centre should stay open as all different ages use the facilities including myself and my family and lets face it mansfield council havn't invested any serious money in any new parks or anything for some years now, so keeping the sports centre open is the least they could do!

Ann Thompson from Church Warsop
I think it is vital to keep open the swimming pool in Warsop. It is the only venue open to the young people from our area. Also for the older age range. I am 74 yrs and learnt to swim at the pool a good few years ago. To go to the nearest pool. Mans/Woodhouse would be too costly for the young & older folk. Please rethink this. Ann Thompson

Jacqueline goddard from Meden vale
save our pool.

bev ward from warsop
we desperately need this facility here in warsop as it is'nt alway's easy to travel to mansfield woodhouse to swim in the new pool or watermeadows. Also we are a largley populated area with surrounding villages included and should be entitled to this facility to serve our communities need.

Leah Smith from Warsop
Just started swimming lessons here with my friends. My nana takes me cos my mum and dad are at work. If the pool closes I can't go anywhere else then I won't learn to swim with my friends.

Janet wood from Formally from warsop
Keep the pool open warsop needs it

D smith from Warsop
Don't close the pool!!

R lee from Warsop
The pool and centre are a part of Warsop and are necessary for the schools and the whole community. Let's face it , we don't have much else here. Keep the pool open.

J Smith from Warsop
This is another stupid thing MDc think they should get away with! Sir John Eastwood built the Meden Pool for the people of Warsop and outlying areas, a community he loved and always helped when possible. If these facilities close, where are the school children and everyone else going to swim? Will there be slots available for them in them in Woodhouse and if travelling time is included how long will they get in the pool and away from other lessons? Not much and what about the extra cost to the school budget for tranport etc. MDC will look after their own first, not us. Come on people, fight to keep the Meden Centre. We can't keep our community especially the children fit by sitting down smelling the flowers and looking at statues in Mansfield.

Kamal Harvey-Mistry from Teacher at Meden School
The pool needs to be kept open to ensure the community has a local pool to keep fit and give chldren somewhere to go for entertainment.

Myself and my family have used this facility from the beginning since Sir John Eastwood donated this facility for the use of the people of Warsop and the surrounding area. Hundreds of children have learned to swim there and have continued into adulthood therefore helping to keep them healthy. We are a poor relation to Mansfield where the council think they can always take from us and we will not complain. Well it's time for the people of this forgotten village to complain!!! If a propoportion of the rates money paid by the people of this village, had been used annually to upkeep the facilities in this village, the expense that the council say needs to be put into the upkeep and general repair of the pool would not be as great as it is. There are families who cannot afford to go into Mansfield or Woodhouse to use swimming facilities(yes, even in 2010). Stop taking away from the people who have very little anyway but still pay top wack to support facilities in Mansfield. Looking at plants and flowers does not help to keep a community healthy, neither does it provide a leisure occupation which is enjoyable and can often save lives. Come on Mansfield councillors, stop feeding your egos with being able to brag about the new'Rebecca Adlington' swimming baths. Sherwood baths has had more money spent on it through the years than Meden Swimming pool has, and did not warrant so much of our money being used again. Scrap the flowers, forget getting the award for 'Best Town' etc. this does nothing to help the people who help to pay for it. I am a very angry resident who uses the pool twice weekly.

Micheal Pearson from Church Warsop
i would not like when the pool was closed but i have been four times.

owen smith from church warsop
meden spouts center is the closes swiming baths

Mitchell from Langwith Junction
I visit the baths regularly, and I have done so for the past 20 years. I will not travel to Mansfield or Woodhouse to swim, and I really do enjoy swimming. Why, oh why can't they leave Warsop baths alone. The community does not need flowers (re the nursery which is to be kept open) These are cosmetic and they are put there to give a good impression to anyone coming into the area I suppose, but the baths are essential to our well being. That's a fact. Leave the pool open and put some of our hard earned money into the whole sports centre, instead of "pouring" it into a celebrity pool four miles away!!!!

Erin O'shea from Warsop
please keep the meden sports center swimming pool open because everyone wil miss it. it has never been stopped before and wht do it now ? it has given many pupils from hetts lane to meden the chance to swim, SAVE THE POOL !!!!!!!!!!

I Will Really Miss Our Swimming Baths,It Helps People Swin And Enjoy The Fun I Really Like Swimming In The Swimming Baths At Warsop I Like Learning How To Swim And I Always Enjoy My Self It Will Be A Shame If You Have To Close It :(

Matthew Baines from warsop
I do not want it to close down because it is owr closist swimming baths and we will not get chance to laern how to swim. There is a monster slash every friday night and you can talk to your maghts why you are there.

lucie davis from langwith

kaine searson from langwith

Ryan Calvert-Cousins from Meden Vale
Its the closest swimming pool to home. I will miss going there with school and with my family. If the baths shut down we will have to go miles to the closest one and I really like the baths here!

sabrina cutts from warsop
Students of the meden school has been taught swimming for the past so many years and it would be a shame to students coming up from junior school as they won't be swimming

Natasha Wieczorek from Warsop
i don't want the baths to close! i go to monster splash everyweek and i have lessons with my school with my P.E teacher.Learing to swim is vital for when we grow up it could help us save our own life and help us save others.I have et most of the staff at Meden Sports Centre and they are great. When i went to Birklands Primary School i went to swimming lessons every year and thaks to Julie i have learnt many things and enjoyed every moment! if you close it other kids won't get to have the experiance i have had. PLEASE dont shut it. Thank you .

liam young from meden vale

PLEASE DONT SHUT IT DOWN its my nearest swimming baths!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Matthew Dean Vale from Langwith
I would miss going there with school if the baths closed down. if the baths closed down then the children at meden school would have to be taken somewhere else. This would cost the school more money.

Richard Wakefield from Market Warsop
I go to the friday session at this facility and I would miss it very much

Mrs Catherine Stevens from Warsop - Meden School
As a teacher at the school for 30 years I have witnessed many children learn to swim and enjoy themselves in these baths. It is one of very few venues which keeps them off the streets and healthy

jennifer kimberley from warsop
I have used the pool , along with my family for 40 years. It's a total disgrace that someone can sit in an ivory tower, outside of the local community in warsop, and decide on the fate of our swimming pool. I dare say that they have never even used the facility, or even taken the time to actually speak to the people of warsop about how they feel re the swimming pool closure. How dare they sit in judgement, while millions has been pumped into the new Rebecca Adlington pool, which we didn't ask for!!!! Leave our pool alone and inject some of the money, which many of us pay in taxes, out of relatively small wages, into our sports centre!!!

Michael Marshall from Warsop
I have just decided to start swimming as part of keeping fit just to find out that they have decided to close it. Why take something else from warsop, Lets face it we haven't got much else .

Phyllis Marshall from Warsop
This swimming bath is a much needed leisure facility and I for one would not like to see it closed

Elizabeth Edington from Warsop
I think this is a silly idea to be honest, i mean what about the schools etc... not a clever move really

Josh Wilson from Warsop/ Market Warsop
The Meden Sports Centre, is the only local pool for all the kids in Warsop, and if it gets closed down, they will either not get a swimming lesson, or have to get extra funding to get coaches to a nearby one, also if Meden School let the pupils go there at lunch times, it'd be extra income to keep the place running.

Anonymous from Warsop
Why Spend So Much Money On Sherwood Then Have To Close Meden Because There Isnt Enough Money To Keep It Open? . .It's Ran Down Because It Hasn't Had Enough Money Each Year To Keep It Up To Standard! . . Also It Has The Meden School Classes Using It Day In Day Out To Have P.E Lessons. .Also In Dinner Times Playing School Teams Such As Cricket & Football..Where Are They Going To Go Now? Also The Primary Schools Using It To Learn How To Swim! Were Are They Going To Go Now?

Paul Hill from Market Warsop
Keep our pool open. The Meden Pool is well used, MDC haven't denied that. But I'd ask MDC, if all the people who use it were to transfer to the Adlington pool, would they get in? Are there enough slots during the day to accommodate all the Warsop schools and enough time for other organised groups, even if they could afford to travel? I very much doubt it, unless the new pool is such a disaster that it's underused already. Warsop may be north of Mansfield but at the present time it is unfortunately still part of the Mansfield District and we pay our council tax, just like those living near both other Mansfield pools, that are within a spitting distance of each other. Can MDC not see it would have been sensible planning to have spent money on the Meden pool, thus distributing the swimming facilities more evenly throughout the District? Or is it that we in the North don't matter?

Gavin John Topley from Warsop
The sports centre provides facilities not only to the wider community, but also to the Meden School. Lower income families will be particularly marginilised should it be closed, by the cost of transport to other facilities. I find the idea deplorable that children of lower income families will not have access to health and sports facilities because of an best an oversight and at worst the sheer arrogance of MDC in closing a resource enjoyed by the community as a whole.

KEVIN MERRIMAN from WARSOP
mdc are now taking the pee out of warsop come on the g ood people of warsop lets stand by one another and unite on this sad news of them wanting to shut a very good swimming pool.STUFF MANSFIELD WE ARE AND CAN BE A BETTER COMMUNITY HERE IN WARSOP WHY SHOULD EVERYONE HAVE TO GO OUT OF WARSOP FOR EVERYTHING WHEN WE CAN HAVE MOST OF IT HERE.yes i know we are not a town but we are a close knit community .MANSFIELD DISTRICT COUNCIL IS ONLY BOTHERED ABOUT TAKING RENT AND DRIVING BUSSINESSES OUT OF WARSOP IT TELLS YOU SOMETHING WHEN WE HAVE HALF PRICE BUSINESS RATES IN WARSOP AND STILL SHOPS ARE SUFFERING AND WILL EVENTUALLY SHUT DOWN. 2 HAVE SHUT IN THE NEW YEAR ALREADY HAIR CRAFT ON CHURCH STREET AND THE CANDY BOX ON SHERWOOD STREET

Martin Elphick from Mansfield (previously Warsop)
My children have grown up using the centre as the only sports facility within walking distance for youngsters in the town. We need to fight to keep it open.

Kate Hill from Warsop
Local schools use the pool for swimming lessons, what alternative has the council got bearing in mind the cost of transport to take the children to one of the TWO pools Mansfield has.

Chris Kowalski from Church Warsop
The Warsop community need this focal point for sport and recreation for all ages.

Joe Barlow from Warsop
We use the swimming pool in and out of school please keep it open.

david Howell from Warsop
i would like to think we should be able to save Warsop sports centre Pool.was john Eastwood,s money wasted,i think not

Kirsten Isaac's from Rugby - Formally of Warsop from 1980 - 2003
I went to school at Hetts Lane Infants, Sherwood Junior and Meden Comprehensive. All in Warsop. All used the swimming pool and sports centre facilities for swimming lessons, galas, sports days and p.e. lessons. From an early age I remember learning to swim there. I even swam a mile in the swimming pool at age 6! Great memories for me. When I was a teenager, my mum worked in the bar in the sports centre that used to be upstairs. I then got more involved in using the gym, playing squash and even going roller skating on Saturdays. My brother learned judo in the evenings there too. It was a safe and fun place to go to use our energy up and by doing something constructive. The staff were always really friendly and it felt like a nice place to go to. I wonder what life is like in Warsop now 20 years later for the children there. Where would they go for fun and where their parents know they are safe without having to watch over them constantly? The sports centre is that place now. What replacement will offer children the same facilities? Even when I left school to start work I would use the swimming pool early in the morning after working a night shift to keep me fit. Would I have biked to Mansfield or caught a bus to do that? Probably not...I don't think others would do so either. Alot of people on here have mentioned Rebecca Addlington and how proud Mansfield were to have an Olympic athlete from their area... Shutting yet another community sports facility is not going to support other up and coming swimmers. Sir John Eastwood would not recognise the Warsop that is there now and that I see changing every time I visit it. He invested a lot of money, with goodwill in the area and Mansfield District Council are very quick to forget how they have benefitted from Sir Johns contributions. It is not justifiable to forget his donation when it suits them. Times are hard but our children and communities do matter. Everybody knows this. But to save money now only costs us more in the long run. I feel very strongly about this even now I no longer live in the area.

Mel williams from warsop
what about children who live localy and can swimming alone/with friends, and who are not old enough to do the same travelling to mansfield alone. it is a busy dangerous place for youngsters! what about people with dissabilities who cant travel far? what about young mothers who go swimming to get back in shape and keep their children active? who find it difficult to lug everything on to a bus, which stops no where near watermedows?

rachel parker from warsop
the whole of the meden would miss out on a facility on their doorstep, not to mention the many other towns and villages surrounding warsop who use the pool!

Zoe Barlow from Formally Meden Vale
Mansfield District Council are totally out of touch with the people outside of Mansfield. Why spend so much money on The Adlington swimming centre just to close down another. Surely the sensible thing to have done would have been to spend less on the Adlington and invested a bit in Warsop. We're not asking for a top of the range pool just one which we can use. Do these people not realise there are a large number of residents that would not be able to afford the added costs of travelling to mansfield to swim. It seems ironic that a town that produced a double Olympic Gold medalist is even considering closing our swimming pool. KEEP IT OPEN!!

elliot smith from warsop
THE DOLPHIN SLIDE & MONSTER SPLASH!!! SAVE THE POOL!!!!

Carol Morris from Market Warsop
where are school children going to learn to swim now?will the council pay for them to go to mansfield because the schools cant afford to pay,i dont think so,

Deborah Wieczorek from Warsop !
what the hell are these people thinking? theres naff all else in Warsop for the kids to do,, swimming may be the only pleasure some kids have,, I always thought Monster Splash was a big hit for lots of kids,,Mansfield baths is not always accessable to a lot of familys.,I have a little boy who attends Birklands hes 5 yrs old,, he is due to start swimming lessons with the staff at the center this term,These early years of learning to swim will be invalueable in the future, how can the council take that away from our future adults of Warsop. It will be impossable for the kids n to expensive for the school to go to another centre, by the time they get there it would be time to leave as it would encroach to much in their eduacation for that day.,, so come on LEAVE THE POOL ALONE. Let the kids have their fun,, they grow up all to quick,.

Nikeesha Latham from Warsop
i think the swimming should stay open for people who enjoy swimming and want it to continue and not have to go to mansfield to pay a high price for an hours swimming.

Leigh Hearnshaw from Creswell
Keep it open. All the kids from Warsop and surrounding areas use the pool to learn to swim and it would just take that away from them.

Sam Hearnshaw from Creswell
Why close it down when so many people use it? Especially with it being near all the schools in Warsop as well. Keep it open

andrew hawkins from warsop
The only way to save this place (the pool) is to actually use it!.....It's no good moaning once it's gone, this is not something that has crept up over night!....It's been on the agenda / moth balled for a good 5 years now!..What are Tony Eggintons thoughts on the proposed closure? He was so proud of Ms. Adlington (photo op for Tony), he presented her with an overpriced pair of trendy shoes recently. Would out beloved mayor seize the opportunity for another picture in the Chad if the pool does get shut down? I doubt it very much......Let's hope it gets reviewed and my cynical side is wrong!

pauline clews from warsop
keep it open

alan clews from warsop
mdc do not care if it's not in mansfield itself. KEEP IT OPEN.

mrs. Ann Dawson from Meden vale
Please do not deprive Warsop and surrounding villages if the meden swimming baths . unlike Mansfield we do not have this important facility available, children are being encouraged to become healthier and more mobile so do not take away this valuable method of exercise for them, im sure other savings in the budget could be made to allow these baths to be saved

Ian Brookes from Meden vale
Warsop and District get it in the neck again

Emily from Meden Vale
Our isolated communities need this facility more than most, our children have very few activities locally and bus fares to Mansfield and Woodhouse are very expensive. The Meden School use the pool and sports hall every week day. Our children are learning to swim at Meden, practice Judo and Gymnastics there too, we need Meden Sports Centre open!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, John Eastwood paid for this facility to be built for the people of Warsop's children to learn to swim, it belongs to us!!

Andrew Evans from Warsop
SAVE MEDEN BATHS!!!! How many times has water meadows been refurbished? It's about time MDC stopped being so selfish and thought about what people in the community wanted. There should have been a vote to take eveyone's views into account. My eldest son learned to swim there, looks like my youngest will miss out.Meden baths served a purpose when they were doing up sherwood baths, don't need it now. What a kick in the teeth!!

Anonymous from
Please keep the pool open for everyone else's sake!

Linda Brookes from Meden Vale
Outrageous decision. John Eastwood will be turning in his grave.

Zoe from Warsop
Save our local swimming baths & leisure centre. What else will the school use for PE? More future overweight kids?! Not paying to swim in some overpriced pool with a 'celeb' name!

John Booth from Warsop
Sorry but really I am lost for words, I Dont feel this is justified and feel that once again Warsop is being treated very badly. Come on MDC HAVE A HEART, think of the people of this town. PLEASE.

Chloe Johnson from Meden Vale
Why close something that a community needs? It is a key part of education in all the local primary schools as they use those swimming baths to teach kids how to swim. Where will they do it now with out having to travel far. So from my point of view and everyone elses keep the swimming pool open!

Baden Johnson from Meden Vale
I totally agree with the info above. Mansfield now boasts the Water Meadows and the refurbished Becky Adlington pool both within a short distance of each other. Maybe MDC should have toned down the refurb of the latter and put some money into Meden Sports Centre. I learnt to swim at Warsop and both my children who school locally ( my youngest who is having swimming lessons) use the facilities for both social and school activities. The pool needs to stay open!

Rowan Oliver Coupe from Warsop
This is just silly. Why take an isolated communities ammeniteis from them? where is the nearest Swimming opportunity, either Mansfield or out towards Rufford.

Emily Keeling from Warsop
Keep it open, where are we going to swim now?

ron mason from warsop vale
moster splash!!!! ''it was then possibly one of the only things for the young people in warsop.. and still is now! ''

Gaynor from Warsop
reconsider closing the pool as it will have a major detrimental effect on our community !

Dee from Warsop
I basically grew up at Meden sports centre.. it was then possibly one of the only things for the young people in warsop.. and still is now!

Julie Baird from Mansfield
As an ex pupil of Meden Comprehensive, I have very fond memories of the pool. In the school holidays me and my friends used to go all the time. This pool is a great place for for all ages to have a great time together.

Chris Winfield from Warsop
The baths must stay open. Where are we to go.??

Caz Kavanagh from Warsop
Keep it open

Mark Winfield from Warsop
My son has swimming lessons there. Keep the baths open.

SAVE THE POOL!

Helen Melville from Market Warsop originally.
The loss of the pool and leisure centre to the local schools and community would be shocking. In the current climate of obesity and ill health our local government should be encouraging the use of doorstep facilities such as this, not closing them down and facilitating further costs to the community and environment in forcing people to travel to another pool. What a shame Rebecca Adlington wasn't from Warsop.......

rob slaney from church warsop
i learned to swim at meden baths as did my children, are my grandchildren to be denied the chance due to mansfield d. c. getting their priorities wrong yet again. recent years have seen costly horrific scultures erected in mansfield town centre, are projects like that more important than facilities for warsop people.

mrs. Joanne Waugh from warsop.
.

theresa wheatley from cornwall
i may live in cornwall now but i grew up in warsop and used the meden sports centre a lot i have alot of family still in the area. it needs to stay open for all the childrens sake who live around warsop warsop vale shirebrook etc.

Ray Ducker from Shirebrook
i was born in warsop my familys from warsop weres the nearest for us in Shirebrook. WARSOP. Please Keep It Open And Dont Be Selfish

We need it as the meden school use it and its keeping our children fit.

Bob Barlow from Meden Vale (warsop 1960-1984)
Sir John Eastwood.(R.I.P)

Ian Carlin from Ex Warsop
In repect of Sir John Eastwood, and for the people who use the facility, keep it open and utalise? it for the community.

Sheryl Barlow from Warsop
please keep it open, we need it!

craig wilkinson from warsop
we should make our right honourable MP pay for the upkeep of the baths using the money he swindled from every last one of us in his expenses if that isnt forthcoming then he should do a basic maths lesson and work out all the extra cost it will bring shutting it, renovating it and schools travelling to other baths then add up the cost for a surly looking person on a front desk 2 life guards and heating and power and realise its less hassle to keep it open

Richard from Warsop
Who makes these decisions - obviously not someone who cares about OUR community!!!

Wheeldon from Warsop
if they close meden sports centre down it'll make warsop unpopular and it'll be needing the gym etc keep it open! please

Gemma Gill from Warsop
It would be a mistake to close the swimming pool, I swim there on a regular basis.

kevin daniels from warsop
warsop is a great community with nice facilities and now you start to take away part of them, the kids and old folk love the swimming baths my kids learnt to swim there and have had many swimming parties there, all because one person won gold everybody in warsop has to suffer you are a disgrace to modern society .....so now if kids want to go swimming they have to travel near enough to mansfield.....and what about school swimming now they will have to travel by bus...if they can get a place which i bet you havent thought of ....there is only so much time you can place to each school and pensioners and now closing one down you put more pressure on one to try to please everybody....and heres a thought if your looking for the next addlington how are you going to give training time to them swimmers ,,take even more time away from kids and pensioners NOTTS COUNTY COUNCIL YOU ARE A DISGRACE ..WHY DO I PAY MY COUNCIL TAX

kimberley brazier from warsop village
dont do it

jayne daniels from warsop
it stinks closing a good swimming pool down what are all the children and schools going to do now shouldnt have spent to much on sherwood baths instead why didnt they just refurbish both.

June Higginson from Warsop
Please keep the sports centre open for the sake of our children!

Keith Buck from Church Warsop
As a resident in a community with an aeging population I cannon see how it can be considered fair to ask people on a FIXED INCOME to spend £4 per trip to take the half hour bus journey into Mansfield the ask them to walk a MILE to Watermeadows and then pay to enter. In fact I consider this to be actively endangering the health and wellbeing of the older element of our local community for NO GOOD REASON.

Matthew Higginson from Warsop (Mansfield)
We need the Sports Centre to stay open! Children use these facilities for educational purposes. This will cause many inconveniences.

John Buck from Church Warsop
Children from local schools use this pool for swimming lessons during school time. In this way children who would otherwise not get the opportunity learn to swim, an important safety consideration. It will be impossible for children from Meden School to travel to another baths to have lessons because of time constraints. Are Warsop children second class citizens?

julie buck from church warsop
I use this pool up to 5 times a week because I live and work in this community. Like myself there are others who simply cannot travel elsewhere to swim. Our community is being stripped of an important facility, is our council tax going to be reduced to take into account our second class facilities?

mrs pearl randle from meden vale
our children /grand children need meden baths to stay open .......

Val Spencer from Warsop
Typical MDC, sure they slowly trying to close Warsop down altogether! Our Children deserve better

jess walker from meden vale

KEEP WARSOP SWIMMING BATHS OPEN, DON'T LET MANSFIELD DISTRICT COUNCIL CLOSE IT. WARSOP DESERVES SOME ATTENTION TOO FOR ONCE!

nathan dee from spoin cop
surely the numerous and fast responce to the closure is a clear sign the council have got it wrong. how will taking somethign away from a town inpove it"? not everyone can afford to travel! discusting.

Julie Preston from was Meden Vale now Shirebrook
Please listen to the people of Warsop and surrounding areas....KEEP WARSOP LEISURE CENTRE OPEN!

Allan Priest from Warsop
I am appalled at the proposed decision to close the wet side of meden sports centre, as i use this facility 3 times a week. It will be a travasty to the people of Warsop and the generousity of John Bealby Eastwood who gave so generously the people of Warsop and its surrounding areas.

Barabara Barlow from Warsop
Its not fair to close meden Sports Centre when we have to travel on the bus to another!

Andrew Barlow from Warsop
keep Meden Sports Centre open! Adults and children use these facilities on a regular basis.

christine haynes from edwinstowe

elizabeth smith from warsop
plz dont close the pool its been a great effect on myself and allso my children and lots of other parents round here my little girl also uses the pool for a school pe i think u should close one ov the other pools why take ours when we only have this one

Dawn Linda Hills from Mansfield
I grew up in Warsop and learned to swim at The Meden Sports centre. There is nothing to do for kids In Warsop apart from the Sports Centre if it closes it will be a great loss and alot of children living in Warsop will miss out.

Joanna Kowalczuk from Rainworth
I went to Meden School and had many PE lessons in the pool and other sports facilities. It is unbelievable that with all the publicity regarding the worries of increasing childhood obesity, the council would consider anything which is going to make this worse, not only are they taking away a valuable facility from the community, but also from the school. Where do Meden pupils and pupils from the three junior schools in Warsop go to swim if this is taken away?

Nicola from Church Warsop
I doubt they'd be closing our pool if it was here Becky Adlington had trained?!

keeley bettridge from warsop
If the meden sports centre was to close then my 4 year old daughter would not be able to go swimming with her school in future years as funding is not available now for children to learn to swim and birklands school has to raise the money for this. If the school had to go to woodhouse then they would have to find additional funds which are hard to come by as it is.

Chris daughton from Warsop
Keep it open people work there, people use it and so does the school!

dee daniels from warsop
keep it open!!

Kevin Perry from Warsop
Our son has swimming lessons there and our daughter is supposed to be starting them shortly, they will be heartbroken by this and as my wife doesn't drive taking them to Warsop for lessons will not be that easy so they will miss out.......keep the pool open

charlene hurst from medenvale
save our swmming pool!

Allen Wood from Meden Vale
Keep the pool open!!!!!

sadie proctor from mansfield woodhouse
my children had swimming lessons there and it is a great pool that should be saved. The centre just need a little tender loving care!!

Ann Smith from Warsop
It makes me wonder if Warsop had been lucky enough to produce an Olympic Medal Winner for swimming, then it might be another story. It they do close these baths, then we'll never have the opportuniy. After all, we are always being encouraged to teach our children to swim!!!!!!

wendy cunnah from church warsop
if they close the baths then the school children are going to miss out on learning a very important life skill as the schools will then be saying they cant contiue with the swimming lessons because of the distence they would have to travel so in the long run its the young that are being let down by this.

sandra donkin (brown) from used 2 live meden vale
love warsop .the swimming pool is were i learnt 2 swim in the 70s.its a psrt ov warsop we dont wont 2 loose

linda jphnson from meden vale
i have just got my daughter into swimming lessons ,it is close to home so very convenient. i can not make a long trip into mansfield as i do not always have transport. also my other daughter uses these baths.

Ann Guthridge from Meden Vale
Once again MANSFIELD DISTRICT COUNCIL forget that the word DISTRICT extends further than Mansfield town. Life does exist beyond Mansfield town. The people of outlying areas don't deserve the treatment which is going to happen to them regarding closing MEDEN LEISURE centre. We owe it to the youth of today to progress, not go backwards. We treasure our young people and are trying to bring them up to be fine and upstanding citizens. Come on MDC get your fingers out regarding your budgeting. Perhaps cut back should start at the top? Do we really need a MAYOR, that's a starter. Loyal resident of Meden Vale

Jill Jackson from Mans Woodhouse( formally Ch/Warsop)
I learned to swim at the Warsop pool and i have been with schools and help children to learnt to swim there why close what was give by Sir John Eastwood for the people of Warsop its discusting that the MDC are keeping an plant nursey in favor of a swimming pool were is there logic. Keeping Warsop swimming pool open would be far more benifical than keeping a plant nursery open.

dawn wilson from meden vale
keep the pool open, the community of warsop and small villages around warsop need it!!!!!!!!!!!

lorraine baker from church warsop
dont close the baths its where my children learned to swim years ago

laura baker from church warsop
you cant shut it down thats where i learned 2 swim when i was young! and i still go every now and then

Barbara Case from Warsop
I think it's disgusting that MDC are willing to take the last bit of sports community away from childen of the future and the others of the local community. You constantly moan about kids on the street having nothing to do but you are willing to take this away. The government are always talking about how unfit children are now adays again you are willing to take the last link away to make improvements in childrens lives. My daughter always uses the sports centre with school and out, so do her friends, there is nothing around Warsop for miles. stop being scrooges, spend some money on improvements and build a future for the community.

heidi priest from Meden Vale
Keep it open !!! Not everybody had a car to drive everywhere !! and as we have one lets keep it.

emma brandham from warsop
my children use this pool on a regular basis as so did i when i was a child, this pool needs to be kept open

deborah cornell from warsop
my son whos 12 likes nothing better than to visit the pool on a friday night with his friends, im happy with that as i know hes not far away and i know hes not in town at the weekend going to watermeadows...KEEP THE POOL OPEN

Katie Todd from Warsop
The pool closing would mean no swimming lessons for Meden pupils and that other schools would have to go out of their way to ensure children lessons. Children should learn to swim before they start school anyway and this would make it more difficult for certain families which could be potentially life threatening. Also Mansfield finally offers free swimming for under 16s/over 60s then effectively takes this away from people? I used to use the pool quite regularly at 14ish but I suppose MDC prefers teenagers on street corners smoking and drinking or whatever? Also not used the new pool but definitely would not use Water Meadows if my intention was actually to swim. Additionally part of the attraction of local gym membership is the range of facilities offered including the ones accessible on our doorsteps. Swimming should be promoted to local people as part of a healthy lifestyle and a life saving skill.

ricky seddon from warsop
maybe if mdc hadnt have bought a handful of silly statues to decorate the streets of mansfield they would have found the money to refurbish and not close warsop sports centre

Daniel Pendered-Wright from Church Warsop
Save Meden baths!!!

Amie Crookes from mansfield woodhouse
ive lived in warsop for 16 years we moved to mansfield in 2001. would be a shame to see the Meden Sports Centre including swimming pool, as a lot of people use it. even though i live in masfield woodhouse i still use Meden Sports Centre and swimming pool.

ian harley from meden vale
keep it open or pass it over to a private enterprise to run it more efficiently , give the lease to the people who care about it and let them take over its running.

Natalie Crowshaw from Warsop
It's a crying shame, the one place you could keep fit and enjoy a game of squash and a swim. There are so many places closing down in Warsop or have closed down. What are you thinking closing even more places down???

Tracey Hurt from Warsop
Closing the swimming pool would be a very bad mistake we do not have that much in warsop as it is.

Michael Godson from Rainworth
don't shut it!! where will i work?!

Brian Randall from Warsop
Refurbish not close

BARGAIN WORLD from warsop
Closing the swimming pool would be a very bad mistake we do not have that much in warsop as it is.

Eileen Nuttall from Warsop
Having undergone multiple orthopedic operations, physiotherapists recommend swimming as a low impact exercise which can aid recovery. If i am unable to get into a car and drive to a pool in Mansfield ultimately my health will suffer. This move to close a centre which serves the community is disgraceful.

beverley nairn from formaly of meden vale
it just not on there is nowt in warsop to start with

Dawn Nuttall from Formerly of Warsop
Closing yet another centre which promotes a healthy lifestyle is not the way to tackle the obvious issues of underage drinking, drugs, and vandalism in Warsop, Invest, make kids and teens want to visit the centre....ask them what they want and provide it, don't close the centre and give up on them all together.

christie childs from meden vale
it should be kept open!

Clare Boot from Sutton in Ashfield
.

Hannah Priest from Warsop
I as a current employee at Meden Sports Centre I am utterly disgusted at this as the staff found out through the newspaper! We haven't been told anything as to whether it will definately be closing or not and are throughly worried whether our jobs will be safe or not especially during the current climate. Sir John Eastwood will be turning in his grave at this and i really hope it remains open to the people of Warsop and its surrounding areas.

Tracey furnell from Mkt Warsop
I learnt to swim at the swiming pool built by Sir John Eastwood, I have young members of my family that are learning to swim they go with thier school, "IF" you close the pool it will effect a wide range of people and schools, its ok for Mansfield and Woodhouse who have got swimming pools not to far from each other,But you have to take something from Warsop yet again!!!!!!! Sir John Eastwood built that Pool for the People of Warsop and surrounding areas, you have no right to shut it,and the people of Warsop and surrounding areas will not give up with out a fight!!!!!

Sarah Elphick from Warsop
I totally agree with the above and the pool should be kept open. Where will the local schools go for swimming classes? Or will they have to miss out.

sonia priestley from warsop
my grandchild has swimming lessons at the meden pool he is three years old his mother does not drive bus fares are expensive plus waiting around for buses in the cold is not a pleasant experience.Does our council tax not entitle us to sports facilities or are warsop people to be cast aside?what a disgrace!

Andrew Whatmore from Warsop Vale
Sherwood baths got refurbished. It's about time meden sports centre was refurbished.

jack wilkinson from warsop
i am old. i am local. i do not have the means to travel miles to the next nearest pool. this would be an outrage. just as we are being told to be more health contious! the council should be encouraging more people to go, not shutting it down. incompitant fools

Shanone Towers from Church Warsop
used it from ages 5-18, as did many others. what will happen to local schools & swimming lessons? surely this is more important that keeping a plant nursery open?

Adrian Hardy from WARSOP
Maybe Cllr Sutcliffe should be summoned to a public meeting in Warsop to face Warsopians over his proposal to close the Meden Swimming baths. The proposed actions of Mansfield District Council are totally unacceptable and they need to learn that when they want to make cut backs due to their failure to manage the councils budget in a competent manner that they do not look to Warsop first to make cuts to balance the books

Kelly Germ from Mansfield Woodhouse (formerley Meden Vale)
--

Janet Frew from Church warsop
Why should we have to pay to travel 6 miles to go swimming.

Alison Frew from Church Warsop
Keep the baths open.

Sharon Frew from Church Warsop
Please don't close the Meden baths.

Steven Le Page from Market Warsop
I hear via Facebook that there are plans to close down aMeden sports centre or even the pool in its self, i would like to encourage you in any respect to not close this pleasure and feature for the future and current use of local citizens. It has become a valuable part of the community and i as well as many others wish for it to stay open and not to be changed into some other kind of resource centre, thanks for taking out the time to read this, Steven Le Page.

WILLIAM FREW from CHURCH WARSOP
Myself and my family have used Warsop sports centre for the last 35 years. I think it will be a great loss to the community if it has to close.

Andrew J. Daykin from Church Warsop
It would be a good idea to look at contracting out the plant centre and making money from that deal to pay for the Warsop Pool. Alternately freeze a Management job or two for the year. I think it's time to make cuts at the top end and not the direct services that people will miss.

Michelle Barlow from Ch Warsop
Please keep warsop baths open

Samantha Thompson from Church Warsop
The baths are local and easy to access for us locals, if you take them away we need to go to Mansfield, i went to meden and have good memories of the gym and the pool, it would be such a shame to loose

clare hayes from mansfield woodhouse
dont close warsop swimming baths.

Tsz Tung Yan from Warsop
I've only been staying in Warsop for 17 months, but I really enjoy the lovely environment of Meden Sport Centre. It's ture that the place may be big enough and the equipment may be not plentiful as others, however, MSC is filled with loads of warm and laughters. Especially, when I see seniors, children with their parents do sports and swimming in the pool, it's unique for MSC. Besides, for Warsop Local, the new centre or others centre is required travelling to get there. There is a need here, we need MSC.

Andrew Stephenson from Church Warsop
Having recently relocated here the sports centre has been a valuable facility in allowing my children to join into the community. At a time when the government wants to encourage more and more people to take exercise making people travel some considerable distance is crazy; with the effect of ultimately reducing activity levels. Has anyone in the council commissioned a feasibility study on what levels of income/activity were needed to bring the facilities to break even? Or was it just a big easy target on a budget line?

paul unwin from meden vale
don't shut the baths as many local people who go there would have to travel further to go swimming, and that could prove as some what of a inconvenience. therefore it should stay open so other pools are not too over crowded as more people would try to go there.

Paul Pursglove from Stoke-on-Trent
I lived in Warsop for many years and the poll is a community focal point. such facilities are essential in a healthy community and if the pool is lost it should be replaced with a similar facility as soon as possible.

Jodie Hudson from Shirebrook
I learnt to swin here and now take my son twice a week. It would be a real shame to see it close.

laura avison from warsop
it would be a real shame to shut this pool, theres not a lot to do here as is it! i doubt they will replace it with something useful

Julie Preston from Shirebrook
Not again.... I learnt to swim at these baths a long time ago, so ave my kids.....and probably thousands of others.... especially school kids.... lots of people dont have transport, time or the money to get to Mansfield......its about time the people of Warsop and surrounding areas that use the baths were listened to for a change.

Kirstie jade ambler from warsop
i learnt to swim at meden sports centre, its had many good swimming teachers which have helped towards me having a love and passion for a sport, this would not of been possible if it wasnt for meden sports centre.

Helena Scrimshaw from Works in Warsop
Just let's think of the children for a change! They going to have to hire a bus into masnfield costing more money and let's face it more transport on the roads isn't good for the enviroment. Keep it open!!!!!!!!

Marion Kavanagh from Church Warsop
we need to start campaining to keep them open, like a march or fasten our selves to the baths handrails or something radical, I went swimming last night and it was packed,

Charlotte Morris from Church Warsop
I started swimming at the sports centre when I was five, which lead me to later become a member of the Sherwood Colliery Swimming Club. Though I no longer use the baths myself very often, it would be an awful shame for young people to now miss out on the opportunities I had. There would be no swimming for Meden school pupils, and other Warsop schools would unlikely carry all their pupils off to Mansfield for lessons. Learning to swim should be a right that all young people have easy access to, without travelling into Mansfield which may not be possible for some families.

Madeline Cox from Warsop
It would be a disaster for me and other retired people if Warsop were to close. I have been a regular swimmer here for 30 years - it is a second home to me. It is at the heart of our community

Karl Wass from Forest Town
A disgrace. A local pool built for, and used by local people, but considered not viable by the not so local district 'two pools' council. maybe they'll put on a free bus to the 'flagship' adlington centre? This council just beggars belief sometimes. But we've got a pretty market place!

Gemma marshall from Mansfield
Don't close warsop baths

ryan smith from Warsop
this is the same coucil that will not let taxi drivers use hybrid cars so......... what really can u exspect from them......

Samantha Reece from meden vale
dont knock it down. where will people go? not everyone can afford to go to mansfield everyday.

Jamie Jevons from Cuckney
Schools need it. Whats the point

Gemma Bradford from Shirebrook
.

Jamie Staley from Mansfield
I grew up in warsop and used the swimming baths regularly. Almost everyone I know has used these swimming baths and they must be kept open for the community and schools in the local area.

Susan Widdowson from Warsop
I learnt to swim at Meden and so did my three children along with countless others..... keep it open ..

Kathryn Herrod from Warsop
Local facilities should be available for local people. There is much in the national news about people needing to take more exercise - especially young people. We need to provide the facilities and encourage greater use rather than just closing facilities because they are underused.

Stuart Moody from Warsop
All the schools use the pool. Many residents use the pool. We are not as lucky as Mansfield residents in that we have two pools within walking distance of each other. Close this one and the others are a vehicle journey away. Pretty flowers do make a pleasent difference across the district .. including Warsop .. but do they benefit the district significantly .. yes we might get a few certificates but so what? Pretty flowers don't teach you potentially life-saving skills!

Adam Pownall from Mansfield
dont close!!

Sharon Hassell from Warsop
Keep Meden Baths open

Rosanna Hill from Warsop
As a heavily pregnant woman it is easier for me to get to the sports centre instead of having to go all the way into mansfield, Both now and when my baby arrives.

Katie Elphick from Warsop
I regularly use Meden Sports Centre and always have done. I feel leisure facilities are essential for Warsop and the centre should remain open!

sam pickering from old church warsop
I'm a ex lifeguard at the sport centre, and the only reason they are closing the pool down is cos they over spent on Sherwood baths. and need to make a £100,000 back out of the budget.

Kelly lee from Warsop
Y should we pay for bus to go swimmin when we got one in warsop its nt nice takein kids on bus when u can walk to the one in warsop With them

Martin Pursglove from Forest Town
I'm an old warsopion I was lead to believe MDC was given the sir John Eastwood swimming baths as long as thy maintained them for the people of Warsop and the surrounding area so if that is the case have they broken the contract made in 1974 ?????

Sallyann Evans from Warsop
Keep meden sports centre open, alot of children attend swimming lessons and many of the schools use these facilities.Sherwood baths got refurbished. It's about time meden sports centre was refurbished.

Kerri-Louise Stone from Meden Vale
there is nothing wrong with the pool so why close it down

Steven Marc Hill from Warsop
These facilties were given to the people of warsop and should be kept. all the schools use them other various groups. It is always Warsop and surrounding areas that suffer just so that facilities are in Mansfield to make people go there and spend there money in the "centre"

Sonja Perry from Warsop
I think it's appalling that MDC want to close the pool. Not everyone finds it easy to travel to other facilities and why should we, when there is nothing wrong with the pool we have. It's important that children learn to swim and closing this pool will make that difficult for many to do.

Carol Hill from Market Warsop
Once again the outlying areas of the District get their services cut, whilst those nearer the administration centre are improved. We pay our council tax, just as those in Mansfield pay theirs, yet it costs us more to travel to use the facilities we pay for and our infrastructure suffers. MDC didn't foot the cost for building our pool, it was a gift from one of our residents who cared about his community and it's up to the rest of us to protect it.

Tania Barlow from Market Warsop
I think its appauling that MDC want to close this facility, all the schools use it and lots of residents, MDC say its underused!!!! We cannot let them get away with taking something else away from Warsop.

Gareth Dallison from Warsop
Why should we have to pay to travel for leisure facilities when we already have them on our doorstep!

Julie Hopkins from Warsop
Closing the swimming pool will only be the start of it. What else will MDC close a few years down the line?
