Chairman’s Report March 2007
“This year has
seen many changes taken place within our community
• Construction of a new health centre.
• New York Stone paving of the town centre this is to continue up
Sherwood Street
with funding from BBC initiative and NRF.
• Demolition of the Royal Estate – Building to commence soon.
• Improvements to existing housing and new housing at Warsop Vale.
• War Memorial – new railing and repairs to stone wall taking
place now.
• The Carrs – new paths laid
• BMX Track – upgraded to Olympic standards
• Spion Kop – proposed plans for new development and the opening
of the new Cricket Club.
Meden Baths – The fight continues, we as a Council will fight to retain
and improve the wet facilities at Meden School.
Highways – This Council will continue to fight for better services
within our Parish.
1. Speed restrictions up Cuckney Hill
2. Improvements to the junction of Eastlands Lane onto A60
3. Speed Humps – this Council will support the views of the community,
Cllr. J. Allin our County Councillor has these matters in hand.
Crime & Disorder – I would like to thank PC Paul Bacon, Wardens
and PCSO’s for the good work they are doing within the community,
we still have a problem with public disorder but I firmly believe we are
winning the battle.
Precept 2007/2008
This year will be a
NIL increase, this was agreed by the full Council on Monday 15th January.
The Parish Council will continue to support community groups with their
annual donations and to offer small grants under section 137 Local Government
Act 1972. Application forms for s137 can be obtained from The Clerk.
Warsop Carnival – Will be held on 7th & 8th July, we wish the
new committee well and as a Council will continue to support them financially.
Youth Council – This I know will be an asset to the community, the
members are full of enthusiasm and ideas for their vision of the community,
which we hope to be able to help them forward and to develop. Training is
ongoing for the members.
Annual 3 Parishes Walks – Again, another successful event, with many
groups benefiting their charities, Tania is already organising this year’s
which will be on Sunday 13th May.
We as a Council will continue to help and support local organisations within
the Parish and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers
for their hard work and dedication during the last year.
Clerk to the Parish Council – I would like to thank Tania for all
her hard work and dedication she has done ensuring that the Council runs
efficiently. She has also strived to ensure that the Warsop & District
News maintains its high standards. She is an asset to the Council and her
approach to problems holds no boundaries, and she always comes up with the
correct information required, when asked
