Warsop fishing competition

Three young people were rewarded for their success in the Warsop fishing competition with a prize giving at Warsop Fire Station. The ceremony took place on the 18 August to present the winners with trophies and fishing equipment for their achievements in the competition which took place on the 29 July, 5 August and 12 August. The overall winner was Bobby Gray and runner up was Cameron Cross. Adam Reeves won the prize for catching the biggest fish.

The competition was organised by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, Mansfield District Council’s Neighbourhood Wardens and Nottinghamshire Police. It was designed to help reduce anti-social behaviour by providing activities for young people living in Warsop and surrounding areas. The event has also helped to build healthy relationships between the organisers and young people in Warsop. Around 25 young people attended each day and have all been invited to attend any future events

Rachael Banks, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Community Safety Advocate for Mansfield District said: “Everyone really enjoyed the competition which gave young people in the area something to focus on over the summer holidays. Lots of them have learnt new skills and we hope to be able to work together to run similar events in the future.”

Mansfield Partnership Against Crime (MPAC) was established in 1998 to address crime, disorder and the fear of crime in the District.
The partnership includes: Mansfield District Council, Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottinghamshire Police, Nottinghamshire Police Authority, Nottinghamshire Primary Care Trust, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, Nottinghamshire Probation Service and Nottinghamshire Drug and Alcohol Action Team.
